Property Description

Situated in a lovely rural valley and surrounded by open countryside, this pair of delightful holiday cottages enjoy wonderful views over to the sea at Mawgan Porth. Away from farm traffic, on a small organic working cattle and sheep farm, enjoy watching the young farm animals, or feel free to walk the nature trail set in 15 acres of woodland valley, which is home to a variety of wildlife. Mawgan Porth, 2 miles, has a wonderful sandy beach and an 18-hole golf course. Both the resorts of Newquay and picturesque Padstow are within an 8 mile radius. The Eden Project is also within easy reach and Jamie Oliver’s ’Fifteen’ restaurant, Watergate Bay, is only 3 miles away. The idyllic village of St Mawgan, 1 mile, has interesting antique and craft shops, a pub and post office with tea room and a Bonsai nursery.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with patio door. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, 1 bunk, all with wooden floors. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

Both properties: Convector heaters (first £10 electricity included, remainder by meter reading). Bed linen included. Cot. High chair. DVD. Stereo. Electric cooker. Microwave. Shared utility room with £1 coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer. Dishwasher. Freezer. Shared payphone. Patio and furniture. Barbecue. Parking. No smoking indoors please. Couples and family bookings only. NB: No pets in July and August.

  1. This is an ’out of the way’ cottage about 2 mile from Mawgan Porth and about 7 mile from Newquay. We have been coming to this particular cottage for the past 4 years because the owners are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet are as their extended family, the son and his wife along with their lovely children. The cottage is on an Organic Farm where they keep livestock. There are just two cottages both with outside space for sunbathing or eating outdoors. The cottage is always spotless and if you are there for more than one week, Nancy will come and change to bedding, we however prefer to change it ourselves and that also is ok. This, as said, has been our 4th year at Higher Lanvean Farm and we have already booked for 2013. The cottage, though tucked away has beautiful views of surrounding farm land and beyond and being on a working farm is wonderful for children. The weather in England is always unpredictable and we have had two years of wet weather, however despite this I would not change my 2 weeks at the farm for anywhere in the world. Walkers beware that the roads around the farm are very narrow and there are no footpaths in the immediate area. June 2012.

  18. This is our third visit back to Porth View. The owner is lovely and makes us feel truly welcome. I particuarly like that she makes it easy and convenient to continue recycling as effectively as I do at home. The cottage is always spotless. Sept 2008.
