Property Description

In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Excellent walking and cycling area

Set in a peaceful rural location on the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire, Whitebridge Farm (refs B4337 and B6844) is ideal for a family touring holiday with excellent walking and cycling in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Both the South Wiltshire and Dorset cycle ways pass nearby and there are numerous waymarked walks, including the half-hour Shaftesbury town trail, which leads to the famous Gold Hill, with its magnificent views. Many historic houses in the area, including Stourhead (NT). An hour’s drive leads to Salisbury, Bath, Cheddar and Weymouth. Visit Stonehenge, and then the ancient Avebury Stone Circle. Set in 10 acres, the eight cottages, two of which are featured here, are grouped around an attractive grassed courtyard and were once stables for the owner’s impressive farmhouse (built in 1872). Old beams have been retained wherever possible. Many pubs serving food and with outdoor eating/children’s play areas nearby - why not try East Knoyle for starters. Shop and pub within a mile.

All on ground floor: Living room with French doors/dining room/
kitchen. Conservatory with French doors. 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 2 twin (zip and link, can be 6ft double) both with en-suite shower room and toilet. Separate toilet. Additional single available (for child).

Oil central heating included. DVD. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi.

Both properties: Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Electric cooker. Microwave. Patio and furniture. Shared use of communal garden. Play area with swings. Shared barbecue. Parking. No smoking. Pets are welcome (must be kept on a lead at all times). NB: There is only room for the cots if the extra beds have not been used.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Very comfortable and well equipped, large cottage in a good setting. The owners, who live on site, are friendly and helpful. This was our first visit to Dorset and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Oct 2011.
  2. Lovely lounge/conservatory - bedrooms neat and spacious - overall layout good. July 2010.
  3. It was comfortable, clean, with plenty of space. Lovely friendly hosts always available to help and advise. June 2010.
  4. The layout of the property was just what we required as we had two young children. It was very peaceful but still near enough to all the attractions we wished to visit. May 2010.
  5. The accommodation was well equipped with everything we required. Also it made a huge difference having 2 showers and 3 toilets. The owners were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Sept 2009.
  6. Good location, spacious cottage, friendly hosts. Lots to see and do in the area. Aug 2009.
  7. The conservatory was a great asset to the property and where we spent most of our time, particularly when it was raining. Aug 2009.
  8. Very helpful and friendly owners. Welcoming atmosphere. No long lists of do’s and dont’s. May 2009.
  9. Home from home & cosy too, although it was mid-winter. The perfect place to stay and surrounded by thick frost. With family we had such fun. This warm and friendly complex In every single way was uncompromised by cost. Jan 2009.
  10. The accommodation for the four of us - 2 couples could not have been better, one bedroom being on one side of the cottage and the other two on the other side thus giving each couple their own space. Three toilets, 2 showers and a conservatory - what more could we ask for? May 2008.
  11. Extremely welcoming, we never go to the same place twice as there is so many other places to see, but for the first time ever we would. Only complaint was we wish we could have stayed longer but had to get back to work. April 2007.
  12. The whole week from beginning to end was just perfect! The owners of the property were very helpful, from telling us the local places of interest, right down to letting us know the local Indian takeaway and to allowing us to feed the newborn lambs on the farm. We could not ask for a more friendly place! March 2007.
