Property Description

"Close to sandy beaches and picturesque villages – with golf at St Andrews nearby . . ."

Ideal for family gatherings, special occasions, select weddings or corporate events, Pitcairlie House can accommodate up to 21 guests in five delightful properties (all graded Visit Scotland ‘4 Star’ and awarded the Green Tourism Silver Award) - each apartment being entirely individual and self-contained. All five splendid holiday properties enjoy shared use of a superb indoor heated swimming pool and sauna - they all have an internal access to the swimming pool (except Kudu UED, reached along the verandah).
They are set in a lovely rural situation, 3 miles south of Newburgh on the Firth of Tay, and 18 miles from Perth, in a 120-acre wildlife haven of woods, streams and rolling hills. Eland (UEB, sleeps 6), Sable (UEC, sleeps 4), Kudu (UED, sleeps 4), The Garden Apartment (UEE, sleeps 3) have been formed within a large Victorian wing of the owners’ 16th-century country mansion, while the Lodge (SBK, sleeps 4) is set on the edge of woodland by the end of the drive. Just 2 miles away is the attractive village of Auchtermuchty, while medieval Falkland with its historic palace is only 2 miles farther on. Both villages offer a selection of shops, inns and restaurants. Shops 2 miles.

This property is close to the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. Play a round of golf any time of the year on this world-renowned course or spectate at this epic sporting event which takes place between the 26th and 28th September 2014.

Situated just beyond the pillared entrance to the main house, backed by pretty woodland, this cottage is just 5 minutes’ walk to the main house where there is ample parking for easy access to the pool and other facilities. This delightful, south-facing cottage is an ideal venue for honeymooners or a romantic break. It meets the Visit Scotland ‘4 Star’ standard, provides convenient ground floor accommodation with wheelchair access (National Accessibility Category 3), and has its own garden and patio. Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Well appointed, comfortable cottage in beautiful grounds. Quiet location which made for a relaxing holiday. The lovely pool was much used due to the very poor weather we experienced. The gardens at Pitcarlie Lodge were beautifully planted and kept, and if the sun had shone, the patio and bbq would have been a treat. Rosemary’s welcome introduction to the property was helpful, quick and unobtrusive. I knew that if anything needed to be attended to it would be, and was also pleased at how quuick wi-fi could be accessed at the main building. 10 out of 10, Rosemary, you’re a star! Many thanks, Anne (02/07/12 to 06/07/12). July 2012.
  2. This very well appointed cottage is ideally based for exploring the surroundings. We were blessed with the weather and didn’t need the wellies at all so were able to get out and find some brilliant walks for us and our cocker spaniel. The large fire was a welcome addition to the efficient central heating ensuring a cosy finish to each day. Feb 2012.
  3. Lovely grounds with short walks - ideal to get out for an hour or so. Use of the pool is a great luxury. Dec 2011.
  4. Well appointed and nice peaceful location. Feb 2011.
  5. Idyllic, it was situated on the entrance to the estate leading up to the main house, and just off a country road. There were agreed walks within the estate, and use of the swimming pool and sauna. It was quite, and relaxing which was what we wanted. Property was clean and tidy, enough room for two couples with one bedroom with ensuite whilst there was a bathroom next to the other bedroom. No interference from the owners. March 2010.
  6. The setting. Oct 2009.
  7. The setting, peacefulness, location to nearby places to visit, definitely log fire! The grounds for walking the dogs were delightful, kids enjoyed the swimming pool. Oct 2009.
  8. It was a lovely well maintained cottage with everything you needed including a wonderful log fire with an unlimited supply of logs. Oct 2009.
  9. A lovely lodge in beautiful surroundings, close to all local amenities. An excellent place for dogs and children. Very good family place to stay. Would definitely return. April 2008.
  10. A beautiful, peaceful and idyllic setting suitable for anyone who is looking for a quiet countryside break. Sept 2007.
  11. A charming property in a beautiful setting with a nice swimming pool nearby. April 2007.
  12. The property was in a lovely location, with lots of walks to enjoy and in a excellent general location to get to different places! Sept 2008.
  13. We have gone self catering for years but this has been one of the best places we have been at. The use of the swimming pool was an added bonus. Oct 2008.
