Property Description

Set in a secluded location surrounded by mature woodland, and part of a 100-acre estate, they make the perfect romantic holiday hideaway. Gamekeepers Cottage (ref OA3) and Cormorant Cottage (ref OPB) are 200-year old, cosy, detached cottages which offer peace and tranquillity. A 15-minute drive leads to the Victorian seaside town of Tywyn with its promenade and mile-long stretch of sandy beach, ideal for bathing. The town itself is surrounded by the Tarren Hills, and plays host to the 7-mile long Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Steam Railway that runs between Tywyn Wharf and Nant Gwernol. With all areas of the Snowdonia National Park being easily accessible from the property, guests will never be short of places to visit. Some of the more local visitor attractions include the Centre for Alternative Technology, King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Animalarium, Coed-y-Brenin Forest and Portmeirion Italianate village. The seaside town of Aberdovey with its harbour, is 11 miles away. Shop and pub 4 miles.

  1. A very relaxing holiday particularly because the cottage was so well presented and comfortable. We are planning to return in the future. Beautiful location and dog friendly. June 2012.
  2. The cottage itself was superb but we were disappointed with an electric fire when a log burner would have suited the situation so well. Also our mobile ’phone had no signal and there was no pay ’phone to use as the handbook indicated. We did find that there was a signal for our ’phone away up the bank where the bench was but this would not help during the night or heavy rain! As we were in a very remote situation it was rather unnerving when my husband developed DVT in his leg and we had no-one to turn to as the owners were away from their cottage so we had to come home early. A set of coat hooks inside the doorway would have been appreciated. We thought the DVD player was not in use but found that the scart cable was disconnected so this was easily resolved! Apart from the missing plaster from the wall to the kitchen the cottage was very clean particularly the bedding! As we had to leave for hospital we were unable to complete the visitor’s book, however I did leave a note explaining our quick exit and sadly no-one has bothered to follow up our demise. April 2012.
  3. We had a wonderful couple of days at this beautiful cottage. Tucked away in a little wooded area, we had some lovely walks in the surrounding counrty side, the cottage had everything you’d need and we’re planning a trip back in the Autumn, I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking to get away from it all.   4. This is a complete hideaway and gets you away from any of the stresses of the every day routine. It’s location is excellent for those wanting to escape and just chill out with stunning views and scenery all around the property. This property is quirky and original and has been restored to an excellent standard. It has all the comforts of home and more. The peace and quiet is unbelievable in this day and age. Aug 2011.

Gamekeepers Cottage is perfect for ’Dog Lovers’ as they have a fantastic garden and woodlands to run about in and the cottage is also close to a local beach again where dogs can go on all year round. We all had a fantastic time and visited a couple of forests for walks so the dogs could run free and not cause a problem to the local sheep!! July 2011.

  7. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is definitely the property for you. Within easy reach of the sea yet tucked away inland, Gamekeepers is a genuine haven. May 2011.
