Property Description

Located in a charming and secluded environment on the Jurassic and Heritage coastline, Coastline Cottages have been converted to a high specification and are well-equipped with lovely wood-burning stoves. Situated 100 yards off the main road, the cottages are set in a quiet location, each with its own garden area, within easy walking distance of Chickerell.
Adjacent to the site is a riding stable, the perfect way for a family to explore the area, and within two miles is Weymouth Golf Course. The lovely Victorian seaside town of Weymouth is a few miles along the coast, where children can enjoy the sandy beach. A day trip to France or the Channel Islands and even a sea fishing trip can be enjoyed, all leaving from the harbour. The RSPB has two reserves nearby - Lodmoor and Radipole Lake, the latter having an information centre as well as nature trails where grebes, swans, warblers and other species of birds may be seen. The swannery at Abbotsbury provides the opportunity to observe the resident colony of mute swans, which has been in existence since the 14th century. From late May, visitors can walk around the nesting area, observing the cygnets at close quarters. Another attraction at Abbotsbury are the sub-tropical gardens, which flourish in a site protected from the cold winds. Here species rare to Britain - such as Japanese camellias and Caucasian Wing Nut tree - can be found. A drive west from the cottages along the coast road is a delight, where the outstanding views and ‘chocolate-box’ villages can be admired. Shops ¼ mile.

  1. This property is extremely comfortable and located in a quiet position ideal for walks and for exploring the Jurassic coast. There are two adjoining properties (as it is a barn conversion) but there is no sound disturbance. There is outdoor space to sit quietly and adequate exercise space for children or pets. Nov 2012.

  13. in the twin room you couldn’t shut the door due to the mattress on the bed being in the way so you had to lift the mattress to shut the door (but no big deal). The shower screen in the bathroom was useless it leaked water everywhere to the point were you couldn’t use it so we used the en suite in the other room. Overall this cottage is very nice and it wouldn’t stop me coming again. Sept 2009.

  17. The cottage itself was kept to a very high standard with excellent facilities (though the TV would not work). Location was excellent and a great central base from which to have many days out in the beautiful countryside of Dorset.
