Property Description

A lovely detached stone barn, once a farm building now converted into a lovely holiday home. The tree growing outside the cottage is a large pear tree, loaded with fruit and this gives the cottage its name. St Mellion is well known for the golf club which attracts many visitors. A 10 minute drive will take you into Devon, across the Tamar Bridge spanning the large tidal estuary dividing Devon and Cornwall. On the south coast, there are some delightful picturesque seaside villages to visit including Downderry and Looe and the long sandy beaches at Whitsand Bay. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Ground floor: Living room. Dining room. Kitchen. Wooden floor throughout. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. Electric cooker. Microwave. Laundry service on request. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Lawned garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. 300-acre farmland. Parking (2 cars). No smoking. No children under 3 years.

  1. The two things that spoilt the cottage was the lack of a window in the lounge area and no windows in the rear of the cottage which was where the best views were, albeit not stunningly beautiful. But a patio area at the rear of the cottage was pleasant on a warm sunny evening. June 2012.

  7. Owners and family were very friendly, Cottage was fabulously clean and the owner left little touches that were much appreciated, like biscuits, milk. Children loved the horses and the chickens. Would love to go again. In fact they did not want to leave. Lovely bases to tour the local seaside. A* cannot praise them enough. July 2011.

  9. The cottage was everything we had hoped it would be, the photos and description on the website were very accurate. We enjoyed the opportunity to be so close to the farm activities, especially as the owners were so welcoming and the animals so friendly. The village of Pillaton was close enough and the local pub was very friendly, the food was excellent even though bookings in advance are necessary. Two things to lookout for are; 1. The directions that were provided to get us to the farm, took us along some very narrow lanes and were a little ’off putting’. I think it would be better to give directions from St Mellion Golf Club entrance. 2.There are only a few pubs in the area so eating evening meals out locally can be difficult to organise. On the whole we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be recommending it to all our friends and family. June 2011.
  10. Peartree Cottage is an absolutely delightful place, hidden away down a small country road in the heart of beautiful country meadows… so peaceful. Once a hay barn, it is now a tastefully converted, well equipped holiday cottage of the highest standard. We stayed for one week May 2011 and had a wonderful holiday, its location is ideal for touring around and with so local attractions we had plenty to do and see every day. Fantastic..!   11. Lovely cottage in a tranquil location. The cottage is extremely clean and very well equipped with pretty much everything one may need, even toys for the children and other games for the grown ups. Our family had an excellent time there and we definitely would recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful holiday. Feb 2011.

The couple who owned the cottage who assisted us while we were there gave us the warmest welcome and made us extremely relaxed. They were fantastic and we will definitely go back again.   20. Very clean and well appointed. You should emphasise how the farm owners were really friendly and that the animals on the farm enhance the experience. ie. The children loved the animals and horses. The farmers wife took our children to feed the hens and collect the eggs. We could also buy some too. April 2010.
