Property Description

Surrounded by farmland in a beautiful rural location just 3 miles from Aberporth’s sandy beach, this elegant and very spacious detached house is set at the end of a long tree-lined drive. Dating from the early 19th century and retaining many original features, it has been furnished to a traditional style, and has 3 acres of grounds.
Parc y Gors provides family accommodation ideally placed for exploring the spectacular Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire coast and the tranquil countryside inland. Cardigan and Cilgerran are 5 miles away, offering a choice of shops, inns and restaurants. Cilgerran boasts huge castle ramparts with inspiring views over a forested valley. Picturesque Cardigan is crammed with Victorian and Georgian buildings, and is also home to the excellent Heritage Centre and large Welsh Wildlife Centre. Several farm parks are within a 40-minute drive.
Aberporth boasts a handful of shops and inns and a Butterfly Farm, while boat cruises are available from New Quay or St Dogmaels to take in a great variety of bird and sea life. New Quay, which claims to be the original Llareggub in Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood, the pretty harbour has a cobblestone quay and a small, curving beach. The lower town is home to the Heritage Centre and the Marine Wildlife Centre. One of the major attractions are the bottlenosed dolphins, which can often be seen frolicking by the harbour wall, and boat trips can be taken to further increase chances of a sighting.
Carmarthen, 26 miles, offers a handsome 18th-century Guildhall, castle remains and a craft centre/art gallery. Golf 5 miles. Riding and sailing locally. Shop/P.O. and pub 1 mile.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. It was nice to have a large property with plenty of fridge space, we’ve struggled in the past with only one medium sized fridge at some of the properties we’ve visited. This property is ideal for families with children as it’s very safe with plenty of outdoor space to play in. Aug 2011.
  2. Excellent house for a family holiday. Everything you need is there, even a room full of toys for the children. We loved the garden and the house has a very comfortable feel. We would certainly consider returning again. July 2011.
  3. Beautiful old house with lots of character and family history. Decor a bit dated, but all in keeping. July 2011.
  4. This is a fantastic location for a family holiday, far from the madding crowds and yet within a few minutes drive of beautiful sandy beaches and pretty villages. We had a super time with adults, teenagers and even two babies! If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with loads of room to spread out - this is it. If you are looking for modern luxury - it isn’t! April 2011.
  5. House in a lovely location and the garden was a real suntrap (even at Easter!). Kitchen was well equipped and all bedrooms nice. Loads of lovely coastline to discover - and we enjoyed eating out at local pubs. April 2011.
  6. Ideally located for exploring Cardigan Bay. Lovely well maintained large house with loads of room for our large number of small children. Mandy the caretaker was very helpful and friendly, even providing a glow in the dark frisbee! Oct 2010.
  7. It was spacious and had a very well equipped kitchen. Lovely garden. Aug 2010.
  8. This is the fourth year we have booked Parc Y Gors for a holiday with our children and grandchildren. The helpfulness of the caretaker is second-to-none and we always have a great welcome. The house and grounds are excellent for a family holiday. Our grandchildren didn’t want to leave! May 2010.
  9. The house was beautiful and perfect for our big family Christmas. There were 9 of us and more than enough room and snuggling up in front of the fire after a nice walk made for an idyllic Christmas. The owners had decorated the house beautifully with a big Christmas tree and made it really special for our arrival. Dec 2009.
  10. Excellent for a meeting of grandparents, parents, grandchildren. Plenty of space indoors even if the weather is bad, play hide and seek! Good local beaches and places of interest. Grounds excellent. April 2008.
  11. Ideal family holiday accommodation with plenty of space, children loved it for hide and seek, treasure hunts etc. Woodburning stove excellent and kitchen fantastic with family sized (11) table and Aga. Family comment on arrival "Wow!" July 2007.
