Property Description

Just across the road from a superb, sheltered sandy beach, Pant-y-Llyn House is set off the west coast of Anglesey on beautiful Holy Island, often known as Mam Cymru – the Mother of Wales. With sea views from all front windows, this splendid and very spacious house has been very comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated and enjoys shared use of a large, lawned, south-east-facing garden. With its stripped-pine floors in many rooms, elegant cast-iron fireplaces, and enormous dining-room table, this is an ideal property for family gatherings. Just across the road, Trearddur Bay is an ideal swimming spot and is popular with divers for the clearness of the water, and surfers for the big rolling waves which sweep in when the wind is westerly.
Just 2 miles away, Holyhead, the largest town in Anglesey, has a Roman fortress, a church dating back 14 centuries, and for those wishing to go further afield, the century-old harbour, with its massive breakwater, offers day-trips to Ireland. Popular with visitors are the nearby tiny South Stack lighthouse island, with its cliff-top RSPB bird sanctuary, and Holyhead Mountain, which affords splendid views of the Isle of Man, Ireland and the Snowdonia mountains in clear weather. Valley (4 miles) has a charming village shopping complex.
Within easy driving distance are Beaumaris, with castle and restored Gaol, and the Snowdonia National Park – north Wales’ crowning glory, a tightly packed bundle of soaring cliff faces, jagged peaks and plunging waterfalls. Menai Bridge 20 miles. The university town of Bangor, 24 miles, is home to a cathedral boasting the longest continuous use of any cathedral in Britain, plus a museum and art gallery. Penrhyn Castle is a luxurious Norman fancy with a large private painting collection and Industrial Railway Museum in the grounds. Fishing, riding and golf locally. Shop ¼ mile.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. We booked this house for the second time - as a group activity holiday. We are all writers, and the space and atmosphere in and around the house is perfect for writing. We hope to book the house again either for later this year or early next year. Also - there are enough bedrooms (7) for everyone to have their own room. March 2012.
  2. Homely and comfortable, right on the beach. Small kitchen for a big party, but we love this house. Aug 2011.
  3. Excellent house, close to wonderful beaches and ideal for large family gatherings. Use of great garden for children. We had a fantastic week. July 2011.
  4. This house was perfect for our needs - a group of writers who needed space to work, and a good place to come together and enjoy the evenings. The bay is lovely, and one does become accustomed to the frequent fly-overs of jets from Valley. It would also be an excellent place for a family, or several families! for a summer holiday. The garden is big - plenty of room for children, and there’s a trampoline! March 2011.
  5. A good sized property that was more than adequatley equipped. Well positioned close to the beach and with a large shared garden and a smaller provate area in which to barbecue. Aug 2011.
  6. Great space, near the beach, felt homely & welcoming. July 2010.
  7. Everything! The sea views from our bed! the amount of rooms to do whatever you wanted to in. excellent gardens and beautiful sandy beaches literally just across the road! so relaxing and weather was excellent too - 8 days of unbroken sunshine in wales - in april! even managed a dip in the sea. April 2010.
  8. Closeness to the beach was fantastic! April 2010.
  9. All 3 lounges were comfortable and the dining area was ideal for the size of our group. However, the bathrooms were not up to standard, i.e. they are in need of immediate modernisation. Blinds were needed in the small toilet, single bathroom and front shower room. The kitchen area was also very small for catering for a large group. Oct 2009.
  10. A really nice house, loved the two sitting rooms, very spacious. Good back garden. Really close to the beach. Sept 2009.
  11. Location was perfect, fantastic gardens, house was amazing we all loved it, we even played hide and seek, their was lots of room for people to sit quite on there own or be in the thick of it. Sept 2009.
  12. The information on the website just doesn’t do this house justice - it is fantastic. Comfortable, stylish but without being precious - somewhere you feel instantly at home. It’s is so big, and having wooden flooring downstairs was ideal as the party included 2 dogs. The beach really is just across the road, and is fantastic. A minutes walk leads to a very nice pub doing food much better than the usual pub fare, and there are walkable shops for the basics. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back. April 2009.
  13. Very close to the beach. July 2009.
  14. A lovely house with plenty of room for groups - both adults and children. Secluded beach on a stunning part of the coast within seconds and a good bar with food over the road. Highly recommended. Dec 2008.
  15. Lovely house, really spacious & homely with beautiful sea views. Pictures on site don’t do it justice! June 2008.
  16. We did have a fantastic week, the kids had a wonderful time, spent most of time on the beach as the weather was so good. Good national trust properties nearby. Oct 2007.
  17. Lovely quirky house next to a great beach, loved the decor. May 2007.
  18. Excellent accommodation for the larger party or extended family but able to cater for the needs of the individual due to having three lounge rooms.Brilliany for us with three generations ranging from 3 years old to 85. Oct 2007.
  19. The location of the house is fantastic and the house itself felt very comfortable and homely. April 2006.
