Property Description

Orchard Cottage is attached to the owner’s imposing country home and has lovely views over the enclosed gardens and is situated on the outskirts of the pretty village of Roadwater. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), Valley of the Rocks and funicular cliff railway. Visit Minehead with its promenade and shops, or the West Somerset Railway for those interested in steam trains. Porlock Weir, Dunster Castle (NT) and village with deer park and mill make for interesting days out. Enjoy the beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor. Shop and pub 0.75 miles.

Natural water supply from borehole. Welcome pack. One dog welcome (livestock and horses). No smoking. NB: 5 steps in garden.

  3. The accommodation was in lovely surroundings, there was a big well kept lawned garden, with hedging and bushes all around. In the grounds there were chickens, horses, donkeys and pheasants, as well as the two friendly dogs. The cottage was very clean, it looked newly decorated with a small but well fitted and equipped kitchen. There was a Freeview TV and DVD. The bedroom was big with oak furniture, and a nice big double bed, very nicely decorated. The en suite shower was superb. There was a night light which was a nice added touch as being in the country it is pitch black at night. I certainly would recommend this cottage as a place to chill out and relax. May 2012.
  4. The photos don’t really do this cottage justice. The owners have done a fine job. It is small and only fit for two people but that is as it is billed and the location is stunning. So quiet and we loved the unexpected addition of horses, donkeys and chickens. It’s a great place to take your dog also. A large enclosed garden perfect for that quick toilet break! The interior is modern and clean with pretty much all you would need (although I didn’t see a washing machine). The landlady was very friendly but unobtrusive and her two dogs were a delight. The local pub is great. Really good food with a great mix of friendly locals. Brilliantly located near to historic Dunster and the beach at Minehead (first time for our ridgeback who loved it). A*.   5. This is a little annex on the back of the owner ’s house but feels private. It is very well equipped and warm and clean (we went in winter) . It feels remote but is only 5 minutes or so off the main road and is easy access to all the sights of Exmoor. The pub is a 20 minute walk (hardly any cars but take a torch) and well worth the effort for great food at a fair price, friendly land lord and big open fire. Dec 2011.

  7. This cottage is situated at the rear of the owners’ property in a very quiet and secluded area, it has its own patio area with a barbecue and access to a nice garden area. The nearest amenities ie pub and local shop is a good 20 minute walk along country lanes but is within easy driving distance of local villages and the coast. A very pleasant cottage to spend a quiet holiday. Oct 2011.

  13. A delightful cottage at the rear of the owners beautiful farm house set in an ideal part of the countryside. A very peaceful part of Somerset with rural surroundings and very helpful hosts. June 2011.
