Property Description

These lovely cottages (refs 16995 and 23420) adjoin the owner’s 17th-century farmhouse, which is located in the hamlet of Tregatta just a short distance from mystical Tintagel, in an AONB. They are surrounded by historic fishing villages, beautiful beaches and open countryside as well as a fine selection of restaurants, pubs and shops and the famous ruins of King Arthur’s castle (Camelot). Atlantic Cottage (ref 16995) has a large lawned garden at the front and Orchard Cottage (ref 23420) boasts a large orchard garden, both equipped with table, chairs and BBQ. There are panoramic views over open fields and sea views from parking area. Sandy beaches are within a few minutes’ drive and close by are the picturesque villages of Boscastle to the north and Port Isaac, made famous by the TV series ’Doc Martin’. Polzeath, Rock and Padstow, home to Rick Stein’s famous seafood restaurant are to the south. This is a great location for exploring all of Cornwall including the Eden Project, and some of the stunning gardens on the south coast. For the more adventurous, why not try the cycle trails at Cardinham Woods (blue and red runs) or hire a bicycle and cycle along the Camel Trail or walk the excellent coastal paths with stunning views, all with in easy reach. Golf and indoor swimming pool 5 miles. Shop and pubs ¾ mile.

  4. The cottage we rented is one of two holiday cottages attached to the owner’s house and is located approximately 5 minutes by car / 20 minutes walk from the centre of Tintagel. Tintagel has a number of pubs that do food, a few restaurants and two small supermarkets. The cottage was very clean and comfortable; although the weather was cold during our stay (in February), the heating kept the cottage snug and warm. There is ample room for parking several cars. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Although the weather was not good, we were able to get out every day. Note that, if the Tintagel area is blanketed in sea mist/fog, it is often possible to either drive further along the north coast or travel to the south coast (under an hour away) to find better weather.   8. Very clean, surprised how many "extras" were provided eg loo rolls tissues kitchen roll washing up brushes and cloths even a supply of magazines. We didn’t have good weather so didn’t make as much use of the garden as we expected to, but would have been fine. Everything we needed, and in view of the rain it was fab to have a tumble dryer too!   11. Very welcoming - owners were very friendly but unobtrusive. Excellent location for tranquil break but not far to nearby shops, pubs and tearooms. Accommodation was very clean, tidy with unexpected extras such as milk in fridge, tea and coffee in cupboards and hobnob biscuits! June 2010.
