Property Description

An old rural detached school, converted to offer a comfortable holiday break, with attractive furnishing in keeping with traditional style. It is surrounded by farmland and forest on the Crown Estate of Glenlivet within the Cairngorm National Park. Visit distilleries in the area or follow the Castle Trail. Pony trekking and walking from Tomintoul with mountain bike trails through Glenlivet Estate. Lecht skiing area, 8 miles. Shop and pub 4 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with sofa bed/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 single. Shower room with walk-in shower and toilet.

Woodburner in living room. Gas central heating, electricity and bed linen included. Towel hire. DVD. CD. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Freezer. Lawned garden. Parking (2 cars). NB: Pond in grounds.

  6. A very comfortable cottage with friendly owners living next door so although it is right in the country we did not feel isolated. The area around was ideal for walking with walks at every level. There is no need to drive miles to find things to do but probably more of a cottage for the active person. Granton on Spey had small supermarkets and a petrol station and Tomintoul some small shops. The local people were all friendly and helpful. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in with all needs anticipated. April 2012.

  9. The Old School was beautiful. The fixtures and fittings were of excellent quality, the log burner was especially welcome when the night was a bit chilly. The leaflets and books on the area provided in the cottage were exceptional at showing the best the area had to offer. Sept 2011.

  12. This cottage is in a beautiful location. It is centrally located to visit the Cairngorm Mountains. There is plenty to see and do in the area and shopping is within easy reach of this cottage, either at Grantown-on-Spey or Aviemore. June 2011.

  14. This was a lovely well-kept property with character in an away-from-it-all location. We especially like the log-burner and the views of the snow-capped mountains were a bonus. Feb 2011.
  15. Lovely cosy cottage, remote but next door to owners house. 2 bedrooms. Very well equipped. Very well heated(we were worried about the cold as we went in January in the middle of the "big freeze" but needn’t have worried). Owners were helpful and approachable but not at all intrusive - left you to get on with the holiday but were there for help and guidance. Worth noting that there are ponds in the garden and no door leading straight to the enclosed part of the garden, this made no difference to us but may do if you have small children. Jan 2011.
  16. The pictures and general description of this converted school do not do it justice! The accommodation is beautifully arranged and well-appointed - ideal for our walking holiday. The garden and the views of the surrounding hillsides are impressive, with plenty of wildlife (viewed through the binoculars that were provided) and we had glorious sunrises and sunsets, too.   17. Very helpful hosts who lived on site but were not obtrusive in anyway. Cosy little cottage with fantastic facilities and a log burner. Was very clean and furnished to a good standard. We were worried about the bad weather considering the remote location but fortunately that was not a problem for us - however, the owners had said that they would tow us in if necessary. Definitely worth the drive upwards as the views are amazing. Can’t wait to go back! Dec 2010.
