Ideally situated for a wine tasting tour of the area, visit Carr Taylor Vineyards, a wine lovers paradise and taste the delicious ’Gold Medal’ winning bubbly which beat many well known French wines! Flavourful fruit wines also available. Sedlescombe Vineyard is England’s premier organic vineyard offering sparkling wines, fruit wines, fruit juice and farmhouse ciders whilst Tenterden Vineyard enables you to stroll through 15 acres of peaceful vineyards, guided tours available during the summer months. Also explore the lovely Wealden town of Tenterden, home to the Kent and Sussex steam railway, pullman dining for special occasions, and offering a wealth of antique shops, tearooms and public house to enjoy. For beaches with golden sands try Camber or visit the cosmopolitan resort of Hastings with its large fishing fleet, why not take home a dressed crab for supper? And explore its higgledy-piggledy old town complete with art galleries and interesting shops to provide you with a souvenir of your holiday. Don’t miss Battle Abbey, Yesterdays World - opposite the Abbey an award winning social history museum, Rye Castle Museum, Bodiam Castle and slightly further afield the Roman fortress now, Pevensey Castle. For gardens try Pashley Manor, winner of the HHA/Christies Garden of the Year award and Herstmonceaux Castle grounds. Golf also available locally. The old towns of Battle, Rye and Hastings (with beaches) are all just a short drive. The Eurotunnel is 40 minutes away and Dover is 1 hours drive, for trips to France. Shop and pub 1/4 mile.   8. Great location, wonderful all round views from bedroom windows, good information in file about oast houses and local events. Comfortable beds and accommodation. Great long weekend -in November. Hastings very wild and windy which was just what we were hoping for. Owner friendly and pleasant. (Shower could have been more powerful and a towel rail in the kitchen would have been useful).   14. An excellent location in a village with a real ’country feel’. Good access to major roads and local attractions. Village shops and a good local pub are within a short walk. The large garden and pool area are excellent for relaxing and the Oast House itself is furnished throughout with high quality, comfortable furniture. The fitted kitchen provides everything that is needed. June 2008.
