Property Description

"...a fine, rural location where wildlife and woodland are waiting to be discovered"

These twelve charming holiday cottages (MQO, P, Q, R, S & T, MRJ, MRK, MTA, MVK, MVL and MVM) are set in a beautiful small development of traditional farmhouse and barn conversions close to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near the Northumbrian Heritage Coastline. Set in some 35 acres of peaceful and tranquil surroundings, the grounds are a mix of woodland with wildlife in abundance, courtyards, lawns and a traditional theme of Northumbrian Heritage throughout.
Guyzance dates back to 1242 and is a small hamlet located south east of Alnwick on the River Coquet amidst picturesque open countryside, yet close to all the main visitor attractions in the county. Warkworth is only 3 miles away with its hillside castle, charming small shops, pubs and river walks, while Amble, 5 miles, is a very friendly fishing port with a bustling working harbour and a new marina. Boat trips can be taken to the nearby RSPB reserve at Coquet Island. Alnwick with its mighty medieval fortress of Alnwick Castle - one of the finest in Europe and stage set for Harry Potter and Braveheart - is set in stunning landscape. The cottages offer fittings of a very good standard and the décor is tasteful throughout each one. Each cottage is different yet each has its own sitting-out area with a barbecue to relax in after a day exploring the beautiful unspoilt coastline and areas surrounding this skilfully designed and tasteful setting. Newcastle city centre with its fine galleries, Centre of Life, Sage Centre, theatres and regenerated quayside area is only 30 miles away. The Metro Centre is only 30 miles distant. Shops and pubs 3 miles.

Single-storey detached stone cottage. Living room. Handcrafted kitchen/dining room. Tiled floor throughout. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. 1st calss venue, good location, comfortable accommodation. Weather as expected for time of year, (used to this as we originally came from Alnwick). Definitely on our (my brother and his family were in the adjoining cottage) and our friends list of ’good’ holiday accommodation for our beautiful northumbrian countryside. Dec 2011.
  2. The cottage was well equipped, well decorated throughout and comfortable. The garden area was fenced off allowing children/dogs to play safely without fear of wandering off. Aug 2011.
  3. Even though there were other cottages close by (and occupied), we were hardly aware of anyone else being there. It was quiet, safe for dogs, warm and cosy. The kitchen needed a few more cooking dishes but this is a minor point in an otherwise perfect cottage and setting. April 2011.
  4. This cottage is absolutely beautiful. Set in woodlands, it was ideal for our dog to go her last walk of the night without having to go too far. It was very comfortable and cosy and we will definitely go back. May 2011.
  5. Excellent cottage, very clean and quiet. A bit difficult to find but happy to be remote and in a quiet location. Not too far via car to near by towns. March 2011.
  6. quiet and peaceful, beautiful cottage. bring a torch as lovely walk to local village pub but no street lights. March 2011.
  7. Our second visit to this property and once again was excellent. Was very fortunate to have good weather for time of year. I would certainly recommend tbis development for a break in Northumberland. March 2011.
  8. Spacious, comfortable, warm. Jan 2011.
  9. Very clean. Simple but nicely furnished/decorated. Homely & comfy. Dec 2010.
  10. Nursery Cottage was clean and confortamble, provided everyting we wanted for a self catering holiday, the location was excellant for exploring Northumbria. Sept 2010.
  11. Even though there were other cottages there, it still felt totally secluded and peaceful. July 2010.
  12. All on one level and two bathrooms. June 2010.
  13. Delightful cottage in a secluded and semi remote location, with other cottages, if you crave for piece and quiet then this is for you. May 2010.
  14. Unfortunately Nursery cottage was unavailable to us due to a fault with the boiler, however we were upgraded to little barry cottage as compensation which was excellent. The large kitchen the garden and the high standard of the facilities in general. And the helpfulness of Linda, the development manager, would recommend a stay in any of their properties. Dec 2009.
  15. Superbly furnished/equipped cottage in a lovely spot to "get away from it all". Perfect location to explore the castles and coast of Northumberland. Feb 2009.
  16. We had a lovely, relaxing holiday which was a complete change of pace from the everyday hustle and bustle that we are used to. This cottage and it’s location is a great place to escape and unwind. June 2009.
  17. Very nice location. July 2009.
  18. We really liked this property’s location and privacy. We found it very peaceful and relaxing. The cottage itself is spacious and comfortable and yet very cosy and welcoming when returning after a good day out exploring. June 2009.
