Set in the Bowcombe Valley in an AONB enjoying views of Carisbrooke Castle, this bungalow has modern facilities married with period features, offering an ideal holiday base for touring, walking and cycling. The Tennyson Trail to Alum Bay begins nearby, and the castle is a 10 minute walk. Carisbrooke has a Norman Church, pubs, restaurant and PO/shop. All island attractions within 25 minutes drive. Good public transport makes it suitable for a car free holiday. Shop 400 yards, pub 300 yards.

Steps to entrance. All on ground floor: Living room. Dining room with French doors. Kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft), 1 twin. Bathroom with roll-top bath and shower cubicle (no toilet). Separate toilet.

Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot. Freeview TV. DVD. Stereo/CD. Gas hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Fridge/freezer. Decked balcony and patio. Enclosed garden and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (1 car). Cycle store. No smoking. NB: There is sloping access and steps to the garden.

  5. Excellent property, with the most fantastic view, centrally located, so easy access to the whole Island. An extremely warm welcome, with fresh roses on the table and a box of chocolates. The owners (who live next door) are really friendly and approachable. Two local pubs, serving food: The Waverly Arms on the corner, don’t be put off by the dour appearance, they do an excellent all you can eat curry night on Thursday’s (children welcome), and the Eight Bells with a good garden and childrens play equipment. If you visit Shanklin, do not eat at the Crab pub, absolutely awful. Aug 2011.

  8. Very nice bungalow with dog friendly back garden and fantastic views of Carisbrook castle. There is also a recreation ground behind the property, useful for those short doggy walks. The property was well equipped and clean and well located for the rest of the Island. The only small downside is the road the bungalow is on can be quite busy at peak times. May 2011.

  11. If you have an interest in castles, this holiday home is a must. Fantastic view of Carisbrooke castle, bungalow is well equipped, cleaned to a high standard, extremely comfortable. We hope to go again, couldn’t have wished for a better holiday. March 2011.
