Property Description

These delightful, terraced barn conversions are situated in one of the most peaceful and beautiful areas of the North York Moors National Park, deep in the valley of Glaisdale Dale. Nab End Farm is home to five skilfully converted holiday cottages, Glaisdale (ref W43151), Eskdale (ref W43152), Rosedale (W43153), Silver Birches (ref W43155), Farndale (ref W43154). The friendly owners who live in the farmhouse welcome their guests with the warmth so typical of this lovely part of Yorkshire, and every care has been taken to ensure guests have an enjoyable holiday. The cottages look out over immaculately maintained and manicured gardens with lawns, shrubs and flower borders, and guests are welcome to enjoy these 5-acre grounds, surrounded by sheep farms, pine woods, waterfalls and streams. An abundance of walks lead from the doorstep to the moors with more gentle strolls along the river bank. There is good fishing in the river and excellent inns, pubs and eating houses within 3 miles, where Yorkshire’s finest cuisine can be enjoyed. Nearby are the villages of Goathland, Egton and Lealhome to name but a few of the many villages tucked deep in the valleys yet close to the River Esk as it meanders its way to the sea at Whitby, 9 miles. Goathland is the centre of Heartbeat country and boasts a pretty village green lined with curio shops, inns and tea rooms. From Grosmont, the North York Moors steam train makes for a memorable journey through the stunning moorland scenery and the glorious Esk Valley into the market town of Pickering. The heritage coastline of Yorkshire is easily reached with spectacular cliff top walks affording breath-taking views across the coast and many quaint fishing villages awaiting discovery. The ancient sea port of Whitby is close by, known for its connections with Capt. James Cook, and is where Bram Stoker found his inspiration and Dracula was born. The cobbled streets are crammed with tumbling cottages, a busy harbour, an attractive marina and a wealth of antique, curio shops inns and tea rooms, and a 3-mile stretch of sandy beach, all overlooked by the cliff top abbey ruins. Visit the smugglers’ coves of Robin Hood’s Bay and Runswick Bay, untouched by the hands of time, where pretty little cottages cling to the cliff edge and the steep cobbled bank leads to a sandy cove perfect for rock pooling and fossil hunting. Shops, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. 1 twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. First floor: Galleried double bedroom.

Electric coal-effect fire in living room included. Gas central heating included. Parking (1 car).

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Perfect setting for serious walkers or lovely strolls. The cottage was so much nicer than the photos ! Absolutely delighted and satisfied. June 2012.
  2. I wanted a quick and quite brake to spend quality time with my family. We like to walk the area was just right for a long relaxed walk. Then back to the very well kept and cosy cottage for a few drinks and a game of cards. all in all one of the best short brakes ive had. March 2012.
  3. A small cosy cottage with all the key essentials in a beautiful quiet and remote location whilst situated within reasonable travelling distance to a wide range of places to visit. We booked a four person cottage for two adults and a dog which gave us plenty of room but it may have been a little crowded if there had been four adults. The dog was made most welcome and the cottage is surrounded by excellent walks but be respectful of the local wildlife - deer and grouse both observed. The local butcher and pub in Glaisdale are a must as is the pub in Lealholm. A trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is fun and dogs are welcome. July 2011.
  4. Lovely location, accommodation was good and comfortable, very friendly. Nov 2010.
  5. The accommodation exceeded my expectations. It was very clean, well equipped, and the fresh flowers made it feel welcoming. The owners are unobtrusive, yet at the same time very helpful and friendly. Sept 2010.
  6. Beautiful location surrounded by farmland. Garden is huge - the boys had great fum playing on the grass. Adequate facilities for a comfortable getaway. June 2010.
  7. Very well furnished, clean, easy access, extensive grounds for dogs. May 2010.
  8. Pleasant, clean, very good position, helpful owner. May 2010.
  9. Location is perfect for a peaceful break, wonderful views of Glaisdale. We were made very welcome on arrival. Aug 2009.
  10. The property was very clean, tidy, dog friendly and in a great out of the way location especially if you are there for walking. Would be great if you had kids. I usually take some essential bits and bobs in a box such as washing up liquid etc but these were provided. Sofas were small and not too comfy but big sofa’s wouldn’t fit in the lounge. Tourist info superb especially the books created by owners. Beds were on the short side for us giants and the mattress wasn’t the comfiest. We would return as it was a very pleaaent stay. Aug 2009.
  11. Neat, tidy and compact, but with all the utensils you need. July 2009.
  12. Due to the excellent weather we had a whole week that was very special due to the locaton of the cottage. May 2009.
  13. The cottage was in a beautiful part of the country and suitable for our needs. We found everything to our satisfaction. March 2009.
