Set in a small hamlet, these carefully converted holiday cottages form a courtyard development where every care has been taken with the design, internal furnishings and their impact on the environment. Bell’s Barn (prop ref 25899) stands detached from the other cottages and is suitable for wheelchair users. Just a short walk from Crakehall, claimed to be one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, with a large village green overlooked by an imposing manor house where cricket and quoits teams often play. Nearby, the historic town of Bedale, 2½ miles, offers a weekly market every Tuesday and various events during the year, together with a range of individual shops, restaurants and pubs. Masham, renowned for the Black Sheep Brewery, is 10 minutes’ drive and Richmond with its Norman castle, Georgian architecture and thriving theatre is also easily accessible. Historic York and its many attractions is within easy driving distance. Alternatively, just enjoy the wonderful Yorkshire countryside either by car, bicycle or on foot. Shop and pub ¾ mile. Properties 25898, 25899, 25900 and 25901 can be booked together to accommodate up to 16 guests.

This property is close to the 2014 Tour de France route, come and experience the spectacular scenery for yourself and follow in the trail of some true cycling legends.

  1. The property is the very best one we have been to, and we have been a great number in England and also in France. The cottage could benefit with a new frying pan, perhaps two. We could not get the oven grill to work. Sept 2012.

The owners were friendly and welcoming and made the cottage special with little touches like fresh flowers, sweets and lovely handmade soap. It was an ideal base for visiting attractions.   4. The property was EXCELLENT!!! It was fantastic with fantastic owners who couldn’t be more helpful. I didn’t expect it to be like it was at all (and I mean that in a good way!) it absolutely knocked my socks off and would love to go back again! Also the owners go the extra mile with little Cadbury’s creme eggs and a decorated Easter tree at Easter. It is a shame you can’t give it a platinum award!!! April 2012.

  7. We have stayed in many cottages across England and Wales, but this was certainly one of the best. Being met and shown around by the owners was a great start. The only problem was that the underfloor heating was so efficient that we rather over-heated! A wonderful cottage with excellent facilities and levels of comfort. A real treat of a break! Feb 2012.
