Property Description

This barn conversion is located about 700 yards from Hay-on-Wye, popular for its book festivals. Converted and furnished to a high standard, it offers a very comfortable base to explore the delights of the surrounding area. A haven for walkers with access to Offa’s Dyke, Mortimer’s Trail, the Black Mountains and the stunning Brecon Beacons. Golf, fishing, riding and cycling all nearby. Hereford, Leominster, Brecon and Builth Wells are all within an easy drive. Shops and pubs 700 yards.

Two double bedrooms, each with 5ft bed, TV; one with en-suite bathroom, shower cubicle and toilet, one with en-suite shower room and toilet. Double bedroom with 5ft bed, TV, en-suite shower room and toilet. Twin bedroom (for +2). Separate external toilet.

  2. Lovely, comfortable barn conversion with the luxury of three en suite bedrooms. Easy 10-15 minute walk into Hay although need a torch if walking back at night. Lots of good places to eat in Hay and interesting shops. Very friendly owners and a warm welcome. Oct 2011.
  3. One of the nicest properties we have stayed in. Generous sized rooms, good quality fittings and equipment, comfortable beds and sofas. Three adults in separate rooms and each with their own shower and loo. The range cooker was well used and we found everything we needed to make our stay a "home from home". We were welcomed warmly and the cake was superb! We spent an interesting morning watching the vets in the yard outside. The area has so much to see and enjoy. Sept 2011.

  5. Cottage was ideal for 3 couples as there was an en-suite in 3 of the four bedrooms. Perhaps a bigger TV. in the lounge may be beneficial. The welcome Victoria sponge cake was to die for and a great touch. March 2011.
  6. A friendly greeting from Mrs Jones set the tone of the holiday. The accommodation was beautifully renovated obviously using local building traditions. It was warm with additional heaters if required. The bed were comfortable and the bed linen of a high standard. Plenty of pots etc. Being dog friendly was a bonus. Feb 2011.

  10. Perfectly situated for our needs - within walking distance of Hay and restaurants etc, and well placed for walking. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and well equipped and we all enjoyed our stay. Our only adverse comments were a) there is no mirror with an electrical socket near enough to facilitate hairdrying - by chance we had an extension lead but without, this would be irritating, b) only just enough cutlery for four particularly when dishwasher loaded, and c) no instruction manual for cooker (following power cut we had to ring and ask owner how to reprogramme).   11. Mouse Castle Barn ticked all the boxes for us. My elderly mother was holidaying with us, and so having everything on one floor was perfect. Also having en suite facilities was ideal. It has a very efficient central heating system which warmed up the Barn very quickly on our arrival ! We found it all very comfortable and cosy. Lovely big kitchen/diner. Sept 2010.
