Property Description

Set on the banks of a river in the tranquil countryside, Moulin de Huno is an ancient watermill which has been converted into a rustic holiday home. Retaining many of its original features, including the water wheel, the mill provides the ideal rural retreat for those wanting to escape modern life. The living room still has the traditional earthenware tiled floor and a vast fireplace, to make the atmosphere cosy on cooler days. The surroundings are mainly woodlands and meadows, where you can while away the days exploring on foot or by bicycle. Nearby La Gacilly is a pretty little town bordering the river which is much loved by local painters. The historic city of Vannes is easily accessible for a day trip, with its medieval centre and lovely marina.

Ground floor: Living/dining room with open fire and simple traditional style corner kitchen. First floor: Two double bedrooms, both with low beamed ceilings. Shower room (no WC). Separate WC

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. This was our second visit to the Moulin de Huno and we were not disappointed. This property is a haven of peace and tranquillity. I do still feel that the owners should be encouraged to provide more comfortable seating in the lounge area. If it is acceptable to have a dishwasher and a washing machine, I don’t think having a sofa would be too out of keeping with the authentic decor. Aug 2012.
  2. This is a most interesting property with wonderful grounds and opportunities to look at wildlife. It has foundations that date back to 1689, and has been renovated to reflect its age - it is therefore quite dark inside. Full of interesting curios. Enjoy eating on the millstone tables outside, but don’t expect 21st century comfort. Sept 2011.
  3. Once at the property the owner opened the driveway gates and we drove down an avenue of trees which opened out to the property that was above our expectations and even more pleasing on entry into the moulin A. Oct 2010.
  4. The accommodation provided everything we needed. We took all the usual ’self catering basics’ but the owner has laid on towels, tea towels, cleaning materials/solutions, toilet paper, cooking oil, herbs, tea/coffee/sugar, etc. We were fortunate enough to have wonderful weather so made as much use of the outside space as possible. What a wonderful place! June 2010.
  5. The location and general atmosphere were conducive to a very relaxing holiday. June 2010.
  6. Absolutely the best. Owner was great. Property was a knock out. April 2010.
  7. It had character, was peaceful, secluded, had an open fireplace, had a river with use of a boat and was in a good position for sight seeing and walks. Oct 2009.
  8. Stunning old mill with a lovely warm feeling to it. The gardens and river are amazing to get away from home troubles and worries. It was lovely seeing so much varied wildlife such as otters, owls, bats and dragonflies. June 2009.
  9. This property is picture-perfect. The garden is a particular plus - extensive, private and peaceful. May 2009.
  10. A stunning location, madame was very helpful and conducted us to the property. The cottage is furnished in period style and the facilities are relatively simple but perfectly adequate. Oct 2007.
  11. This property exceeded our exectations. Set in a perfectly tranquil rural location we were able to spend a most fantastic week with our daughter, husband and grandson. The mill as you would expect is located along a small river. The owners, who could not have been more helpful, have provided a small dinghy for guest to use. We found the little trips up the river to be wonderful as there was so much wildlife to see, including kingfishers, and otters. The area is perfect for cycling and walking with two very pretty towns within close proximity. We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the Moulin de Huno. July 2006.
  12. The accommodation was superb and i thought was far far better than described probably the nicest place i’ve ever stayed at in France will definitely be returning. Oct 2006.
  13. This is true rural France! The nearest shops are in La Gacilly 6Km and all the people are very helpful & obliging. No English is spoken but even our limited French was always rewarded. May 2006.
