Property Description

With a stunning outlook over moorland and surrounding countryside, this 17th-century listed holiday property could hardly be more aptly named. The village and its surrounding area is the setting for a lot of TV’s Johnny Kingdom series. Shops 4 miles, pubs and restaurants 2-7 miles.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. If you want ’far from the madding crowd’, Moorland view is it! It has beautiful views over the surrounding fields and moorland and red deer can often be seen from its windows. The sitting room has a cosy wood-burning stove and the Rayburn in the kitchen/dining room makes it very snug and perfect for drying any wet clothes and walking boots. The cottage is right on the edge of Exmoor and not far from the coast, so it is perfect for walking, including the romantic Doone Valley and coastal walks such as Woody Bay and Hunter’s Inn. April 2012.
  2. The property was spotlessly clean and the welcome received by the owners was extremely warm and generous. It was also very well equipped and homely. Aug 2010.
  3. Cleanliness is always very important and the house was very clean and well maintained; it was spotless. It was warm and cosy. There were plenty of good quality cooking utensils in the kitchen and everything was very orderly. One nice touch was the bird feeder outside the window - we saw lots of lovely birds including a close up view of woodpeckers. It was a beautiful location; very quiet and great views. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and ready to help if required. June 2010.
  4. Cosy. Lovely having an Aga in th kitchen to get warm and dry by. Nice wood stove. Quiet. Helpful and friendly hosts. April 2010.
  5. Very clean, very welcoming host, well equipped and beautifully peaceful and quiet with lovely views. Oct 2009.
  6. The property was exceptionally clean and well equipped. It was comfortable and very pretty and in a quiet idyllic ’village’. Sept 2009.
  7. The accommodation was beautiful and spotless, the owners had decorated for Christmas with fresh holly and there were fresh flowers around the house, they were very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. I only wish we had booked to stay for longer it was one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. THANK YOU!! Dec 2007.
  8. The fairytale cottage in the country is... real! Aug 2007.
  9. The accommodation was scrupulously clean - the highest standard we have ever found anywhere!. Personal involvement and interest of owners add greatly to enjoyment of cottage and surrounding area. Nov 2006.
