Property Description

With its six en-suite bedrooms, this heavily beamed, impressive Grade II listed, cruck-beamed barn stands tucked away in tranquil meadows, on the owners’ 200-acre farm. The barn enjoys magnificent views over the surrounding countryside towards the Forest of Dean. The medieval cruck-beamed wing, open to full height, was built in the 15th century and now makes up the living area with gallery. The heavily beamed 16th-century wing has been thoughtfully restored to provide comfortable en-suite accommodation. The barn is particularly suitable for family holidays and reunions, and the dining area is perfect for entertaining. There is a large mature garden where seating is provided in quiet spots to fully appreciate the views and bird life. Colourful trees and shrubs lead the way to a 1-acre games lawn (shared with owners) where croquet, garden skittles, sandpit and a children’s play area can be enjoyed. There are walks from the door in this area of Great Landscape Value.
Hereford (12 miles) offers a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. The cider industry here is very prolific and enthusiasts should visit local cider makers and Hereford Cider Museum. Other places of interest include Hereford Cathedral, Mappa Mundi Centre and the chained library. The Herefordshire/Welsh borderland offers an excellent range of walks suitable for all ages and levels and enjoys fabulous panoramic views with many historic castles and beautiful ancient churches to explore. Ross-on-Wye, 8 miles, with 17th-century Market Hall is an ideal start for exploring the Forest of Dean. Monmouth, 6 miles. Symonds Yat, 8 miles. Welsh border, 1 mile. Shop 400 yards, local inns serving food, 2 miles.

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. A great weekend for all of us, excellent for the adults, toddlers and babies. Oct 2012.
  2. Overall was very impressed. Have stayed in many cottages over the years and this was by far one of the best in terms of layout, facilities and cleanliness. Jan 2012.
  3. 12 of us have annual get together and are finding it more and more difficult to find large pleasant houses and different areas to visit. This house at Meadow Barn was brilliant and we will definitely visit again. Dec 2012.
  4. Fantastic accommodation - the owners have thought of everything to make your stay a comfortable one. The open plan living space was perfect for us. The huge dining area was ideal for our large group, the kitchen was very well kitted out, the patio area was great for BBQing and the lounge area so cosy with the real fire. The bedrooms are spacious whilst being cosy and retaining the characteristic of the converted barn. Nov 2011.
  5. Meadow Barn was a lovely house to spend a week with the family. It was spacious, comfortable & clean. The garden was well equipped to keep four young children entertained. Location was perfect with lots to do & see. Aug 2011.
  6. Excellent accommodation and superb location. Four families stayed in Meadow Barn and had a wonderful weekend chilling together and loved the accommodation so much we will be booking a return visit. July 2011.
  7. This property is excellent for family get togethers, we had ten in our party with varying ages, from 3yrs to 65yrs each and everyone enjoyed the open kitchen and galleried living room (kitchen is fantastically equiped). The garden is so big and has plenty of games for all to enjoy. The pond was no problem to us as there is plenty of space in the garden to avoid going near this. May 2011.
  8. Meadow Barn is a wonderfully restored barn, retaining its charm and interest, but with all modern conveniences. April 2011.
  9. Ideal for a large mixed age family group with each room having its own facilities and two discrete recreational areas. Extremely good kitchen with all that one would need to cook for large groups. Jan 2010.
  10. Very tidy, plenty of comfortable space, good kitchen facilities. Dec 2010.
  11. The property was clean, comfortable and well laid out for a group of friends holidaying together. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped and organised so that a number of people could work there at one time without getting in each other’s way. April 2010.
  12. Very well laid out to accomodate a large family group. Excellent all round facilities and superb outdoor area for children to play in. April 2010.
  13. Excellent ’chat’ spaces - kitchen excellent... garden games great. April 2010.
  14. Superb barn conversion with lots of space. Kitchen large and well supplied with cookers and utensils. March 2010.
  15. The property was exactly as described in a great location. Jan 2010.
  16. This property was everything we needed and more. It was comfortable, cosy and in a quiet location with wonderful views. The kitchen had everything we needed for our big party (11 of us), and the open plan meant that we could all be together but in our own little areas, either to read and relax or play games or watch TV. The bedrooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. It’s a little treasure and we would highly recommend it. Nov 2009.
  17. Very well equipped cottage in a lovely setting. Plenty of space for all the family. Excellent that all bedrooms contained en-suite facilities. Plenty of outdoor space for family games! Oct 2009.
  18. Well-furnished. Enormous kitchen/diner, allowing twelve people to sit around and chat while food was being prepared! Excellent ’party’ space! Aug 2009.
  19. The barn had lots of character which we loved and for a large group, such as the 12 of us it had such a lovely spacious and well equipped kitchen and dining room. And it was good to fit around the table together. The garden with its open view was very good especially for the children although we thought the brochure information played down the size and dangerousness of the pool and the barbecue equipment was not very practical. July 2009.
  20. An excellent property for friends reunions, comfortable and well equipped. March 2009.
