A good base to enjoy this lovely area

Only 200 yards from Gildredge Park bowling greens and tennis courts, 1/2 mile from the town centre and railway station, these spacious and elegant holiday apartments with period features in a fine Victorian house are ideal centres from which to enjoy all aspects of a really varied holiday. McSweeney (ref 3536) and Prideaux (ref 3537) have a feature marble fireplace. Eastbourne is a fine town with a Victorian pier and excellent theatres hosting national productions both musical and dramatic at the Devonshire Park and Congress Theatres. Easily reached by road via M25 and A22 and is 1½ hours by train from London. There is also an International Tennis Tournament at Devonshire Park and County Cricket at the Saffrons Sports ground, all of these venues are within walking distance of the property. The Bluebell Steam Railway and Filching Manor Motor Museum are a short drive and the South Downs are close by for walking enthusiasts.
Eastbourne now has a Marina and harbour village and there is also a fine swimming and leisure pool. Two excellent golf courses are within 1 mile, with horse riding 10 minutes drive. Sailing, windsurfing and fishing are available from the beach. Day trips to France operate from Newhaven 12 miles away. Shops and pub a short walk.

  1. Leave the car and use frequent buses that stop just outside property. We could easily walk to town and restaurants and if tired get bus back. Flat is comfy and homely and no one bothers you. Come and go as you please. June 2012.

  3. An excellent property in an excellent location, in a town renowned for its better than average weather. The fittings would have got an excellent if there had been a reading lamp available. I have poor sight and without a good light I was unable to read in the evenings. Sept 2011.
  4. This property is spacious, clean and comfortable. It is a good location for us as we do not mind a walk to the sea front but if not bus stops in the road outside. Love Beachy Head, lovely coastline walks. Sovereign Harbour worth a visit but above all Eastbourne has such a lot to offer in shops, eateries, theatres and museums you do not need to stray far.   18. Although directions good, it could be better coming in from the western side of the country. May 2009. The accommodation was excellent as described and was very centrally located, close to conveniences like a grocery store, banking machine, restaurants/pubs etc. and a great place to base day excursions from to visit and see the many attractions in the area. We would definitely book this property again! April 2007.
  19. For us, this holiday accommodation was perfect. Spacious, comfortable, and easy walking distance for shops, sea and countryside. We’d want to go back and walk some more of the South Downs. May 2006.
