Property Description

This pretty traditional cottage with scenic views is perfectly situated on the owners’ working farm on the main road between Glossop and Chapel-en-le-Frith. Situated just 1 mile from the village of Hayfield, a popular base for a holiday exploring the Sett Valley Trail, walking the Kinder Scout, the caverns around Castleton, the plague village of Eyam, Edale, Hope, Chatsworth House, Haddon and Lyme Halls. Buxton, Bakewell, Glossop and Holmfirth are all an easy drive, as is Manchester with its excellent shopping. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub ¼ mile. Can be booked with ref 24515 to sleep 6+2.

This property is close to the 2014 Tour de France route, come and experience the spectacular scenery for yourself and follow in the trail of some true cycling legends.

Ground floor: Living room with beams and slate floor. Dining room with beams/kitchen with wooden floor. Shower room with toilet. Open tread, spiral stairs to first floor: 1 double bedroom.

Electric woodburner in living room included. Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Wi-fi. Gravelled sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (1 car). Cycle store. Two pets welcome, to be kept on a lead at all times (sheep country). Friday to Friday.

  1. Lovely small cottage on the owners farm right next to the Latnern Pike hill. As for the interior of the cottage the attention to detail impressive and really has a proper country feel to it. Just as described by the owners, it’s in a close proximity to all the major attractions of Peak District. Bottle of wine left for the guests was a nice touch, also excellent free range eggs available to purchase from the owner. It was our first holiday as a family with our 4 months old daughter and it couldn’t have been any better (perhaps less rain:)). April 2012.

  4. This was a very clean, well equipped and comfortable cottage with adequate parking space. Another holiday cottage adjoins the cottage but this was neither intrusive or noisy. Be aware that the cottage is located close to a busy road so expect some traffic noise. If using the cottage as a base for walking, there are no public footpaths leading from the farm into the excellent local countryside which means having to walk on the afore mentioned road in order to pick up a path or driving into the nearby village of Hayfield which offers good access into the local path network.   5. Lovely cosy cottage, better than the pictures on the website make out. Very quiet, with a good location. Lovely walking to Kinder Scout almost on the doorstep. Could do with some local maps to help us badly prepared visitors. May 2011.
  6. Friendly owners and their pets. Surrounding countryside very beautiful and relaxing. Well situated for all activities. However, in hot weather upstairs room may be rather stuffy as opening window is directly over the bed.
