This charming former lodge is situated within an 18th-century park on a private family estate in a stunning location, and has magnificent views over the Wye Valley. This property is peaceful, and it makes a cosy, romantic retreat. Mansell Lodge is ideally situated for the historic city of Hereford and Hay-on-Wye, with the Welsh border and the beautiful Brecon Beacons also close by. It is a comfortable base to discover Offa’s Dyke and the Black and White trail, and guests can also enjoy excellent walking and fishing within the estate, with golf available locally. Shop 4 miles.

  1. A lovely old lodge keepers house in an idyllic countryside setting, but not too far from civilization. Sept 2011.
  2. Delightful cottage in a peaceful and lovely setting. Excellent base for walking and touring. Well-equipped. Pity the shower was a hand-held one with dodgy thermostatic control. July 2011.
  3. Lovely, quiet cottage, well equipped and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and had lovely walks in the local vacinity, like being in France with local fresh produce and sunshine! We would love to go back again soon. May 2011.
  4. The cottage is comfortable & roomy, although a tall, possibly bulky, person would not be comfortable in the bedrooms, because of the sloping ceilings. It’s a great place to take dogs, with a secure garden & lovely walks on tne estate through a gate out of the garden. The central heating is effective, & the log fire superb, with a lavish supply of free logs. The crockery shows distinct signs of wear, & some is unusable, and there are no pegs for coats, etc, except a very few in the utility room. We would visit again, both for the charming cottage, & for the delights of the area. April 2011.

  6. The property was suitable for the number of people it accommodates. The kitchen was large and well equipped. The use of dishwasher, washing machine and dryer was a bonus as the weather was damp. The living room was cosy and the open fire was lovely as the logs and kindling were included in the price. There was a lovely feel to the cottage. In fact it is the only holiday cottage we have been to more than once and we will book to go there again. The walks around the cottage were also great, especially the ones that could be accessed through the back gate. Dec 2010.

  10. A delightful period gatehoouse to a country estate with roses round the door and a glorious view along the valley, Mansell Lodge is delightfully presented and very comfortable. We wished we could have stayed longer. June 2010.
  11. Loved the seclusion and peace of the property and having the beautiful fields behind the cottage to ourselves. Very warm and cosy, not large but plenty of room enough for us, our two grown up sons and our beardie dog, Harry.
