Property Description

Set on a working farm in the peaceful hamlet of Oxwick, Manor Farm is only 12 miles from Holkham, with its lovely expanse of sandy beach. The impressive farmhouse (Property ref AAE), boasting two spacious living rooms, is very well furnished and equipped and stands in its own half-acre of lawned gardens. The two pretty cottages (property refs CLX & CLY), adjoining one another, provide comfortable split-level accommodation, with each enjoying its own furnished garden area. Fakenham is 4 miles away, and offers a good choice of shops, inns and restaurants, as well as 10-pin bowling, a sports centre, golf course and racecourse.
On the coast, Wells-next-the-Sea (11 miles) is a bustling little fishing port, which boasts fine Georgian houses set round a green, and a busy quayside full of shrimp boats and colourful pleasure craft. A miniature railway or a pleasant walk along the embankment, takes visitors to the sandy beach (1¼ miles). There is a large boating lagoon for canoes and dinghies, as well as sailing, tennis, and riding locally. Close by are Walsingham Abbey grounds, containing the famous Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham and the remains of an Augustinian priory.
Less than an hour away lies Norwich, one of the finest of England’s provincial capitals. For the visitor, there is a wealth of history, fine architecture, excellent shopping, art, museums and leisure activities. The Norman castle dominates the town and now houses a museum, while the magnificent cathedral boasts some of Britain’s best Gothic architecture. There are cobbled streets, quiet alleys and courtyards, lively shopping centres, plenty of good inns and restaurants, as well as excellent art galleries and museums. There is an excellent pub/restaurant just a mile from the holiday properties. Shops 1 mile.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. A great place to relax with lots of friends. The real farm house kitchen table is just a wonderful focal point for the evenings by the real open fire! loved it! April 2012.
  2. Great location for exploring both the North Norfolk coast and the lovely countryside. The house was much bigger and better equipped than expected with lots of space for our large multi-family group. The dining room was particularly appreciated as all fourteen of us could sit down together to eat. It’s also rare to get a proper cot instead of a travel cot and this extra home comfort was also appreciated. Marcch 2012.
  3. Very spacious property! Excellent for big groups and family’s! Would highly recommend this property! March 2012.
  4. Fantastic property, large enough to comfortably hold our party of 16, the kids loved the large garden to play football in and the swing on the tree. Us adults enjoyed the the warm conservatory overlooking the garden and the huge dining table that facilitated long leisurely dinners. May 2011.
  5. Lovely property with loads of space and beautiful surroundings. Outside space great for a game of rounders! The only negative was that we couldn’t get hold of the owners all weekend to ask for some more bedding that we needed. Apart from that a great holiday house, for a good price! May 2011.
  6. It is a great property for a big group. There is lots of space in the rooms and plenty of places for kids to play and adults to chat, cook etc. The furnishings are a bit dated but they all function well so for us it was great. Dec 2010.
  7. Very well equipped and the layout was very comfortable. Nov 2010.
  8. The size of accommodation was excellent at no point do you feel you don’t have enough space. Nov 2010.
  9. This was an ideal accommodation for a school’s residential trip. There was plenty of space for the pupils and the furnishings were not so modern and new that you feared bringing a group of 13, 9-10 year old pupils! Sept 2010.
  10. Perfect for what we were looking for - a house for a large group in the countryside. June 2010.
  11. Furnished and equipped to high standard. High ratio of bathrooms to bedrooms. Beautiful setting. Nov 2009.
  12. It was very homely. With the large number of bedrooms it caters well for large family groups. Aug 2009.
  13. This is a great place to visit, everything was perfect. Sept 2009.
  14. Great location for a murder mystery evening. Feb 2009.
  15. An excellent property for a family gathering, the photos do no do it justice. March 2009.
  16. The accommodation was spacious and extremely comfortable. It was in a peaceful location, and the owners were friendly and helpful. June 2008.
  17. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. There was 4 adults, 9 children, masses of room both inside and outside the property and in fact at times we lost the children in the house. It has many positive features and was a brilliant base for us as a group. Aug 2008.
  18. The house was very spacious with plenty to do and the dining table is exceptional. A great location also for accessing the north Norfolk Coast and the east. Sept 2008.
  19. This place is enormous and with appalling weather and six children in the party, the space was really appreciated. Hide and seek took them all day! Dec 2008.
  20. It’s ideal for family and friend groups as the bedrooms are all doubles, twins or triples. Its unusual to find such a great property for such a good price. We’ll be back. Feb 2008.
