Property Description

Manor Court Cottages are set in the peaceful village of Shipton Gorge, less than 2 miles from the stunning Jurassic coastline. Within walking distance, 110 yards, are the village playing fields and pub selling the world famous Palmers Brewery Ales and delicious pub food. The picturesque harbour of West Bay has been made more famous by the TV drama Broadchurch highlighting the outstanding beauty of the coastline. You can enjoy many walks along the footpaths on the coastline and inland enjoying an AONB. The pretty village of Burton Bradstock is just 1 mile away, which is dotted with chocolate box thatched cottages, a lovely little beach with a cafe, shop and pubs. The market town of Bridport, 2 miles away, once famous for its rope-making industry, was Thomas Hardy’s Port Bredy and has lots of little shops, cafes and a fantastic selection of pubs and restaurants, along with the twice weekly market where local produce can be sampled as featured in the popular ‘River Cottage’ TV series. Lyme Regis and Weymouth are great places for fishing and watching the world go by. Weymouth also has a great family beach, the winner of a seaside award. Spread along the coast are the other beach resorts of Bournemouth and Poole and the beautiful Victorian Swanage with its steam railway. Fossil hunters will enjoy the world famous beach of Charmouth. The family can have a great day at Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, Weymouth Sea Life Centre, Abbotsbury Swannery, Sub Tropical Gardens and Childrens Farm. Shops and pubs 1 mile.

  3. Well set out and having 2 bathrooms was a definite plus. Would have been better if patio area was securely fenced (had 2 bar wooden fence) to save tethering dog when outside. Owners very friendly and separate room with pool table, information and washing machine was a good idea instead of taking up space in each individual property. Easy access to lots of local attractions on the coast and inland and a nice farm track just up the hill for relaxed walking away from road without having to get in car. May 2012.
  4. Excellent, clean and tidy cottage. Lovely view from the windows. The only little minus - there was nowhere to hang a coat. Coat pegs just inside the door would be really useful. March 2012.

  6. Accommodation excellent - cosy but large enough for all our needs. Very well equipped and very clean. Kitchen area more than adequate - all mod cons. Two bathrooms (one en-suite shower) very convenient. Dog friendly but needs to be on a lead outside cottage as patio area fenced but with only one horizontal strut so dog, especially a small one like ours, could easily escape ( this is the only improvement we would suggest - to make this area more dog secure.) Close proximity to coast another asset - Burton Bradstock only 5 minutes and Weymouth 30 minutes. Will definitely use again. March 2011.
