The local market town of Torigni-sur-Vire is one of the region’s jewels. Its famous 300m Grimaldi Wall runs alongside a lakeside walk - a perfect spot for fishing or simply enjoying a small town’s historic atmosphere. Nearby St-Lô was a strategic town during the Allied invasion of 1944. Also close by are the medieval city of Bayeux with its famous tapestry and the beaches of the Normandy D-Day landings. The region’s vibrant capital, Caen, and Normandy’s famous landmark, Mont St. Michel, are also within easy driving distance.

  1. A beautiful cottage, with a warm welcome. At first we thought that were a little out of the way, but after making use of a map we soon found our way towards Bayeux and the D Day beaches. The wood burning stoves were lovely to take the chill off in the cooler evenings. June 2012.
  2. This is a charming and atmospheric cottage in a beautiful location. It would be ideal for a large family particularly with children who would enjoy the garden and the surrounding countryside. The property is however,quite remote and most of the major attractions are a considerable drive. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with cooking paraphernalia and is also a convivial entertaining space which can comfortably accommodate a large crowd. The open fires create a lovely atmosphere but do require some attention! The owners are extremely kind and helpful and generous with their logs and advice. There are a multitude of book available for adults and children. All in all this is an ideal spot for a large crowd who are happy to cook/barbecue and want to enjoy a good value holiday in a beautiful peaceful location. Sept 2011.
