Property Description

Two 18th-century converted stone barns set in a private valley, 1200ft up in the Cambrian Mountains, and situated on a smallholding with 24 acres of forest, ancient trees, little streams, natural gardens and adjoining 2000 acres of heather-clad moorland. The properties are situated in the grounds of the old farmhouse, in which the owners live. A haven for nature lovers, walkers, those seeking tranquillity and couples looking for a romantic hideaway. This is a private and peaceful setting, far away from the noise of traffic and the stress of city life. Surrounded by the border towns of Knighton, Presteigne, Ludlow, Leominster and Hay-on-Wye, this is a wonderful base to explore this diverse and flourishing region. There is also a great folk and country music scene locally. The coast can be reached within 1 hour 20 minutes.
Llethrau Barn (0F2) is a stunning ’chalet barn’, which boasts atmospheric interiors, a beautiful greenhouse/garden breakfast room and a writers desk. Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Lovely, away from it all cottage. Well equipped, very comfortable. Owners very pleasant and friendly. June 2012.
  2. Most relaxing holiday ever. It rained all week - the perfect excuse to curl up and read next to the wood burner. Deliciously comfortable and well appointed holiday retreat! April 2012.
  3. The cottage was so cute and the location fabulous. The owners were really kind and helpful but did not intrude. Would certainly go back there. March 2012.
  4. Llethrau is truly out in the sticks. Once at the cottage you don’t need the car for the rest of the stay as there is an amazing aray of walks. Fun was had cooking on the arga and sitting by the wood burner. Loved it loads. Feb 2012.
  5. This is a cottage for people wanting to get away from it all. Apart from the owner who lives close by and who was very helpful and enthusiastic to ensure our stay was a good one, we never saw another living soul (perfect). My wife and I took our dog who came back to the cottage every day very wet and muddy (he loved every minute of it). The cottage is quite rustic and you have to learn how to use an aga and light fires, this all adds to the charm. The location is outstanding very beautiful and diverse. The weather was poor during our stay, in fact it rained all the time right up to the point when the car was loaded for the return journey, when the sun finally came out. Even this did not put a dampener on the holiday, the cottage owners come armed with a selection of wellington boots which you can borrow should you wish to explore the woods and stream, (it can get quite slippy under foot). Aug 2011.
  6. This was an idyllic cottage in a quiet relaxing setting. The owners never intruded but were there if you needed them. Plenty of walks around the cottage. It was well equipped and homely, plenty of books to read and dvds for quiet nights in, and a few helpful bits like salt, pepper, flour, herbs/spices in the cupboard, and milk in the fridge. The bed was so comfy and large. Aberdovey beach was in close drivable distance and dogs were free to run on the right side of the beach. The Red Kite park and walks at Bwich Nant Yr Arian was fantastic too, but really with the amazing views and walks around the cottage area we didnt feel the need to go far. No mobile phone signal in the cottage, but you can get it up on the hill behind. Lloyney Inn had good down to earth pubgrub, the Radnorshire Arms which was also a good meal. All in all a wonderful cottage in a fantastic peaceful setting with friendly owners and locals. Would definitely book again. Aug 2011.
  7. We enjoyed our holiday, the cottage was so how I imagine a real country cottage to be. It was the best one we stayed in. The owners are really friendly and very helpful. July 2011.
