Property Description

Dating back in part to the 14th century, Little Lanherne Farm stands detached with a lawned garden, a small meadow, and a terrace that is perfect for watching the sunset while enjoying an al fresco dinner. Set in approximately 2½ acres of land, this impressive former farmhouse is perfect for a special Cornish holiday, or special occasion to be shared with friends or family. The house is divided into two parts, the main house sleeping twelve and a self-contained annexe sleeping two. The beautiful village of St Mawgan - home to Japanese ornamental gardens, country pub and shop - is approximately 1 mile inland from Mawgan Porth (with cycle trail and quiet lane to beach). It lies halfway between Newquay and Padstow on Cornwall’s dramatic north coast - famous for its selection of excellent surfing beaches, surf school, cliff walks and Cornish Coastal Path. The area is well served with several local golf clubs, such as Trevose, Constantine and Newquay (all within 5 miles). Padstow is easily reached, where fine dining, fishing and boat trips, and cycling along the Camel Trail can all be enjoyed in this quaint fishing village made popular by TV chef Rick Stein. Newquay’s famous surfing beaches are within 3 miles, as are Newquay Zoo and two sports centres. Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, Fifteen, is at Watergate Bay just 3 miles away where there is a beach café and an extreme sport academy offering kite surfing, wind surfing and much more. Little Lanherne is ideally situated for visiting the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Bodmin Moor. Truro with many amenities is within 15 miles; Bodmin, St Austell, Falmouth, St Ives, Penzance and Lands End are all easily reached. For golfers, the Merlin Golf and Country Club is very close by. Sea fishing and coarse fishing available locally. Shops and pub 1 mile.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Super spacious house, with plenty of room for up to 3 families. Beautifully arranged & decorated. April 2012.
  2. Lovely house, ideal for large group holidays, plenty of space. Cleaned to a very high standard. Child and dog friendly. Oct 2011.
  3. This was our 3rd visit to Little Lanherne and every year we come back further modifications have been completed, and all for the better. We love the location as it is quite but not that far from all the beaches and villages. You can walk to St Mawgan will take about 20-30 minutes and is hilly, if you do it at night take a torch. This has now become one of the best places to stay so you need to book early. Watergate bay is only a few minute drive away and the beach takes dogs all year round as well as the beach hut for food. If you want an afternoon in the hotel there they also take dogs in their living space. For a cheaper option of food go to The Travellers which is only a few minutes drive away heading toward Watergate bay. Food is outstanding. Will definitely be back again just need to find the availability. Sept 2011.
  4. The property was exceptional for a large party with plenty of room to be together but with space to have privacy. All the equipment needed is available. A perfect location creating a perfect holiday. July 2011.
  5. A lovely house, beautifully furnished and decorated but poorly equipped in the kitchen. We even had to buy a coffee pot! May 2011.
  6. Property was well appointed, nicely furnished, comfortable and had every amenity for winter and summer breaks. April 2011.
  7. Lots of space, very quiet. Oct 2010.
  8. Lots of space, the amount of shower/ bathrooms in ratio to bedrooms, location excellent for access to beaches. Aug 2010.
  9. The property was beautifully appointed and very clean. We hadn’t realised that it was so remote, but the house itself was lovely. July 2010.
  10. We had 6 adults and 6 children stay there and had loads of room, kitchen was great and enjoying the sun set in the back garden was amazing! June 2010.
  11. The view, location and furnishing. May 2010.
  12. For large family occassions this suits all. This is our second year at this house and we have already booked the 3rd in 2011. May 2010.
  13. Lovely setting, well equipped. Nov 2009.
  14. Excellent choice of rooms and wash areas for the whole party. July 2009.
  15. This property is outstanding and we had an excellent week! We have to say that the gardener is outstanding and assisted us with any snag items we had and was a great person to get local knowledge from! We would definitely use this property again. Feb 2009.
  16. First class we will use your service again. April 2009.
