Property Description

Sympathetically converted and renovated to a high standard, these two adjoining listed barns are situated in beautiful countryside on the owner’s 10-acre farm. The interiors boast exposed oak beams and oak floors, as well as a staircase with subtle lighting and latch doors, which all add to the ambience of the properties. In the grounds are two well-stocked lakes, where coarse fishing is available by arrangement with the owner. The cottages are ideally placed for visiting NT properties Wakehurst Place, Sheffield Park, Standen (home of William Morris), as well as Chartwell, Chiddingstone, Hever Castle and Penshurst Place. Hartfield Village is 31/2 miles for A.A. Milne’s Pooh Bridge, and Tunbridge Wells for its famous Pantiles and spa. Racing at Lingfield offers a pleasant way to spend an afternoon or evening, whilst there is sailing at Bough Beech Reservoir and bird lovers will enjoy seeing migrating ospreys at the adjacent nature reserve. Excellent walking in Ashdown Forest. Golf locally. Shops 3½ miles.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. A lovely little get away and the perfect place to unwind. May 2012.
  2. The Old Dairy was a perfect Romantic getaway - although it adjoins the Old Stables it is the smaller and more private of the two properties in a fairly secluded location. We used it as a base for racing at Lingfield and visiting Tunbridge Wells where we dined at a wonderful restuarant Thackeray’s. March 2011.
  3. The setting of this accommodation is in a very romantic area. We were snowed in for two days and although this was a problem it was very romantic. Nov 2010.
  4. The Old Dairy is a very imaginative conversion of a simple old building. It retains some quaintness whilst being a convenient and pleasant modern living machine. Oct 2010.
  5. Beautiful cottage, excellently equipped, wonderful location. July 2010.
  6. The facilities and cleanliness also well stocked and very nice. June 2010.
  7. Contained everything we needed - as there’s only two of us, this size of property isn’t always generous with furnishings - but we had two sofas here and they were much appreciated after long days out!! and the bed was really comfy, had the best nights sleep... Its the little things that make all the difference! The bedroom has a low pointed ceiling which may annoy some visitors - but we were quite happy! All in all - happy with everything! June 2010.
  8. A very relaxing rural retreat. June 2010.
  9. A good location. May 2010.
  10. Location near to relatives. April 2010.
  11. Loved the location and the fact that eveything we needed was there. Accommodation was spotless and very cosy. March 2010.
  12. Lovely little place, surrounded by country side very quiet and the converted barn was real nice. March 2010.
  13. Perfect just what I was looking for. Jan 2010.
  14. I arrived late on a snowy evening and the owner had turned on all the lights so that when I arrived it was warm and inviting. The decor has been done to a high standard and provided a comfy, warm, friendly atmosphere. I was there Xmas week and after putting up a few decorations the cottage was magical! Dec 2009.
  15. More photos in brochure to do the property justice. May 2009.
  16. Well equipped property, good location but a little difficult to find. Sloping ceiling means you cannot stand upright in the bedroom. Marvelous for visiting National Trust properties; good pubs nearby. July 2009.
  17. Brilliant place, so romantic! Dec 2008.
  18. Beautiful, quaint little hideaway. The perfect escape! Our only company was the 9 friendly geese at the front door! We will be returning! Jan 2008.
  19. The cottage was lovely, small but just what we wanted, with a high standard of furnishings. The photos do not do it justice! We had a wonderful stay. Sept 2008.
  20. The photos of the outside of the cottage do not do it justice. The inside is excellent and the nearby fishing soo good! March 2009.
