Property Description

Extensive sea and inland views can be admired from this Grade II listed former lighthouse keeper’s cottage. Built in 1791, it stands in a superb coastal location adjoining Happisburgh’s working lighthouse and within a short drive of the Norfolk Broads. It offers well-equipped, comfortable holiday accommodation; the cellar has been converted into a den for children. The lighthouse is open to the public on some Sundays in high season, when visitors can enjoy the fantastic view from the top. Local rural, beach and cliff-top walks. Wroxham 12 miles. Norwich 20 miles. Shop, pub/restaurant ½ mile.

Two bedrooms, each with rugs on wooden floor; one double with 5ft bed, one twin with additional pull-out bed (for +1). Bathroom with over-bath shower. Separate toilet. Steep stairs to lower ground floor: Cellar/playroom (restricted height 5ft 7in) with TV, video/DVD, table football.

  1. A lovely cottage in a peaceful location. There was plenty to do in the area. Felbrigg hall & Blickling estate were very nice. A trip to Norwich is worthwhile, a beautiful city. The lighthouse inn in Walcott is very family friendly and do a very good vegetarian choice of meals. June 2012.

  4. Nice and peaceful location nice large enclosed garden which are Newfoundland really enjoyed.Not too far away from local town at Stalham which has got good facilities.Nice sandy beach at Cart Gap which is about 2 miles south by road from the cottage. Nov 2011.

  8. Stunning location with lovely sea views and an attractive walled garden. Saw seals off the coast. Happisburgh beach and access are being renovated this year (2011) so limited access, but Cart Gap just down the road is beautiful. Aug 2011.

  13. A very interesting place to stay. We were lucky to get a tour of the lighthouse as it is only open to visitors on Sundays between April and August but Radio 4 was doing a programme on it and the kind people who look after the lighthouse offered to show us around. (Well worth a visit). Oct 2010.
