Nearby Sorges is the centre of the truffle-growing region, the area’s most precious product, known as ‘Black Diamonds’. The city of Périgueux has a market and shops selling local delicacies in the old quarter. This is an excellent base to explore the north-eastern corner of the Dordogne, within easy reach of prehistoric caves and canoeing at Brantôme.

Location: 100m from village centre (shop, baker, bar, restaurant), 5km S of Sorges (swimming pool, truffle museum, restaurants), 20km E of Périgueux (cathedral, golf), 26km SE of Brantôme ‘Venice of the Périgord’ (shops).

  1. Beautiful villa in superb gardens. The pool area with the outside kitchen was great, allowing us to enjoy the lovely evenings. The villa was very well appointed, and the caretaker was very helpful. The pool was cold as there is no heating, but still beautiful and kept so clean. Loved the area but we like to explore so would probably try somewhere different. If we could take this villa with us around France that would be great! A little gem! Sept 2012.

  3. The photographs do not do the house or pool justice. The house is very well laid out, with an excellent large HD TV and reclining leather sofas - not on the photos. The table tennis table was a big hit with the children especially as we didn’t know the house had one. The pool is wonderful and kept so clean, and the pool house kitchen and BBQ was very well equipped. The village is very very quite with only a couple of shops, but everything you need is only a short drive away. The location makes for a very restful holiday. We would book again. Aug 2012.

The pool was fantastic and well maintained by the owners who cleaned it out early every morning to make sure all was perfect by the time we got up.
