Property Description

These two holiday cottages have been renovated by the owner who lives nearby, and who will advise on places to visit in this lovely area on the Vendée side of the Marais Poitevin. Le Chic (ref F85301) is a semi-detached cottage and features original stone walls, exposed beams and a cosy wood-burning stove in the living room. It has a small sitting-out area to the front and a grassed area to the side. La Grange (ref F85303) is a detached property with original stonework, wooden floor, exposed beams and a wood-burning stove. Outside there is an enclosed garden which is perfect for sitting quietly in the shade of the hot summer sun. Hire a canoe (payable locally) and explore the local canal network, or visit the pretty villages, markets and beaches of the Vendée and Charente.

  1. An attractive stone built cottage in a very quiet hamlet location. The majority of any traffic appeared to be a gentleman going past occasionally pedalling his tricycle... Well presented, comfortable and well equipped with most things one would need. We enjoyed our stay, and found Le Chic to be ideal for the two of us, and exceptionally good value for money with the inclusion of elcetricity. We have stayed in other cottages at 100E more which have not been as good or included electricity. Sept 2012.
  2. We spent a lovely week at Le Chic in early September. The house is comfortable and has everything we needed. The village it is in is very quiet and peaceful - just what we needed to get away from it all. Mariusz, the owner, is the perfect host, fluent in English, has handy recommendations of places to visit, but leaves you to it. We visited La Rochelle, Ile de Ré, both beautiful... Fontenay-le-Compte again, lovely... Niort - some nice old buildings but not the most exciting place in the world. We also had some nice walks around the local area. We used the supermarkets in Fontenay and Benet, the boulangerie in Le Mazeau (the boulangerie also delivers bread daily if you’re up early enough to catch them!!) and various other little shops as we came across them on our travels. One other thing - Some people have commented on the low ceilings in the bedroom - I am 6’2, and didn’t see it as a problem! Sept 2012.

  7. Recently refurbished property to excellent standard and fully equipped to meet all requirements. Extremely comfortable and spacious. First floor bedroom far exceeded expectations from description on the web - bedroom was capacious and with minimum height of at least 7 foot sloping roofline did not affect movement about the room. Wonderful to have full height window especially to wake up to with wonderful views. Owners were extremely helpful and friendly and were fully committed to customer satisfaction. Could not find fault even if tried. A fully recommended experience. Gite ideally located with excellent walks and restaurants nearby. Approx 30 miles from some excellent beaches. May 2011.

Marius the owner was very helpful and welcoming wanting to ensure that we had an enjoyable visit to the region.
