Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Laurel cottage is a lovely large cottage with lots of garden. It is great for dogs, a walk just over the bridge very handy and the cottage owners think about your pets too. It is not overlooked by any other dwellings, yetis only a few minutes walk from the village shop, post office, chippy and beaches. The town of Millom is only a few minutes drive away. Laurel cottage is a good base for enjoying the lake district and we would love to go again soon. Sept 2012.
  2. Very nice accommodation and very dog friendly. Our small beagle however did manage to go upstream along the river by getting around the fence. She couldn’t get back and needed to be rescued so visitors with small dogs should be aware. Haverigg itself leaves a bit to be desired as a town but the large beach, close by walks and nearness to the lake district were great. Aug 2012.
  3. Lovely cottage in beautiful grounds. Easy access to the lakes, recommend a visit to Ambelside. Grasmere village is beautiful and Cartmel racecourse and village with a beautiful gift shop covering three floors not to miss.Thank you for a warm cosy and comfortable retreat, a doggies paradise as they are made so welcome too. May 2012.
  4. My husband and I really enjoyed our holiday at Laurel Cottage. It was everything we could have hoped of and more! The cottage was set in beautiful grounds with a river running at the rear of the property which our dog enjoyed having a dip in even though it was November! It was an added bonus that we could take both our dogs with us and they enjoyed it just as much as we did! From the minute they arrived they were out exploring and they loved being able to come and go as they pleased - the enclosed garden gave us the security that our dogs were 100% safe and could not get out in any way! The accommodation was well equipped providing everything that we needed and more! It was spotless on arrival and felt like a home from home, being cozy and welcoming! We loved being close to nature surrounded by birds feeding in the bird feeders provided hanging from the many trees and bushes in the surrounding grounds! We saw many robins at the time of year we went (November). The beach was lovely for walks with the dogs and my husband enjoyed musselling on one of the afternoons! All the people in the village are friendly and welcoming. The Haverigg Fish & Chip Shop as well as the Golden Lotus are all well worth a visit! All in all, our visit at Laurel Cottage was perfect! It was relaxing and peaceful which is just what we wanted! In fact, we were very sad to be leaving Laurel Cottage so much so, that we have booked again for next year! Nov 2011.
  5. Spacious comfortable bungalow. Great access to the beach at Haverigg, Hodbarrow Reserve and local amenities. An excellent location for a relaxing holiday. Oct 2011.
  6. Excellent base for exploring the beautiful South West Lake District. Property comfortable and cosy, extensive enclosed garden ideal for dogs, but with tidal stream, so care will be needed with children. Nearby town and village plain but with useful shops, the chippy in Haverigg is very good. Extensive beach with parking and cafe 5 minutes away. Road alongside property with a small amount of traffic and farm next door with a tractor. Sept 2011.
  7. If you want to get away from it all this is the place for you. Great for walking and mountain biking. Really quiet village great for the kids to play safe. Not to far from the lakes. Aug 2011.
  8. Great cosy little cottage with modern fixtures and fittings, but it is in a very small quite hamlet somewhat remote, but once you accept the need to get in the car to access things, then it is very peaceful. July 2011.
  9. Lovely old cottage which has been beautifully decorated and furnished. It was clean and comfortable and we particularly liked the conservatory - it was lovely to enjoy its peace and quiet both first thing in the morning (with a coffee) and in the evening (with a gin and tonic!). June 2011.
  10. Second year running to Laurel cottage with our two Labradors, & family visiting us this time to see what was so appealing. Peace & quiet, relaxing, stress-free living, wonderful scenery as we had brilliant weather. Must have a steak at "King Billy" pub at Kirksanton, Fish & Chips from Haverigg chippie - beware the portions are HUGE !!Very dog friendly cottage and lovely owners. June 2011.
  11. Just fantastic. Excellently placed for walks all around whether it be around the numerous RSPB reserves or up the hills and into the lake district range. Great for dogs - the owners must have some because they have lots of towels, bowls etc for wet dogs, with a place to put them after a walk to dry off. Great location for horseriding too - was nearby in Silecroft where my wife had two great treks on the beach. The river at the bottom of the garden is also a real bonus along with the wonderful garden. All in all a great holiday cottage - the best we’ve been to so far. May 2011.
  12. well located close to village and beach, which was great for walking dogs. Plain village, but people so friendly. Cottage lovely roomy warm, well equipped. Millom handy too for supermarket etc. Feb 2011.
  13. It is a real home from home, extremely comfortable, has everything you’d expect from a holiday cottage and more! It’s in a remote position within the Lake District, perfect to get away and switch off, but, has many great walks, so a perfect base. Also, has all the basics in the local village, and is only a short drive from Windermere. For us, the bonus was that it’s pet friendly, and it’s one of the most plush cottages which allow dogs! Also, it’s so comfortable, you won’t be surprised by all the comments in the book saying they’d love to stay on and that they’ll be back! Dec 2010.
  14. Detached but not isolated. Heating on ready for our arrival (needed in the freezing fog and snow)! Nov 2010.
  15. Absolutely gorgeous. Aug 2010.
  16. Lovely, cosy cottage in very well kept and private gardens, all enclosed so the dog could not escape. Very thoughtfully presented with everything you might need except perhaps a pair of tongs for the kitchen! ie nothing to complain about. We can only praise the thought and care of the owners, as everything was very well presented, even down to a very well stocked dog cupboard. The beach is just a few minutes walk away. Haverigg may not be the prettiest of villages, but with all the rest of the lakes and the fabulous sands to explore, it really was not an issue. July 2010.
  17. It felt like home from home where we could relax and enjoy ourselves. The bed was a dream - so comfy ! Even though we arrived 20 mins earlier than planned our two Labradors were welcomed with open arms. It was a scorching hot day and told to let them straight out of the car. A cooling dip in the river was quickly enjoyed. A very well fenced in large, lovely garden, spare dog towels, dishes etc. Happy dogs and happy owners. June 2010.
  18. The cottage was spacious and comfortable and had been decorated to an excellent standard. It also had a lovely large garden which was great for our dog and for us to sit out in. May 2010.
  19. Perfect throughout, very homely. Have recommended to a friend already. Could not have asked for more. April 2010.
  20. For us, Laurel cottage was situated well with access to the beach and village. April 2010.
