Property Description

In the heart of Perthshire, nestling quietly on a private, 1,200-acre estate in the mighty Tay Valley, these four very comfortable holiday cottages enjoy far-reaching views over a patchwork of farm and woodland. Laundry Cottage and Dunmore Bothy are both detached, single-storey cottages, whilst Stable Cottage, also single-storey, adjoins The Coach House, an impressive, 19th-century stone building retaining many of its original features. These smart colour co-ordinated properties have been furnished with rich luxury curtains and soft furnishing and each property has its own garden; visitors have access to a network of over 6 miles of private estate roads covering the extensive grounds, which include a fold of highland cattle, and two small lochs, home to wild ducks and geese. Boat trips can be arranged to fish for brown trout, as well as angling on the River Tay, with some of Scotland’s finest salmon fishing.
At the nearby Loch of Lowes, a visit to the bird hides is often rewarded by sightings of osprey soaring high overhead. Historic Dunkeld village (3 miles) is one of Perthshire’s gems, with a part-ruined cathedral, good shops and restaurants. Perth, 16 miles, offers large areas of green parkland, where sports matches, boating and putting can be enjoyed. The town boasts numerous museums and art galleries, including the museum of the Black Watch, housed in Balhousie Castle. Edinburgh and Aberdeen within 90 minutes’ drive.
Glasgow is also within driving distance and is a paradise for art lovers – the many museums include the Gallery of Modern Art, the Mackintosh Interpretation Centre and the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. More unusual attractions include the Transport Museum, the Botanic Gardens and The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour. Shops 3 miles.

This property is close to the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. Play a round of golf any time of the year on this world-renowned course or spectate at this epic sporting event which takes place between the 26th and 28th September 2014.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. All of us (four adults, three dogs) thoroughly enjoyed our week at Laundry Cottage. It was everything it claimed to be, and very well placed in Perthshire. In our view, outstanding trips were made to Glamis Castle, The House of Bruar, the Kinloch House Hotel in Blair-gowrie for meals, Crieff and Arbroath. July 2011.
  2. Idyllic setting, with plenty of walking on the spot. Owner is welcoming and helpful, but don’t forget your heating is extra and Perthshire evenings are chilly. The logs for the fire are free and it’s fun to make up the fire each evening, but you will need extra heating/hot water and it can be a pricey end to your holiday. April 2011.
  3. Very nice property with extremely welcoming owner. The bedroom arrangement was slightly awkward but it was otherwise perfect. Dec 2010.
  4. Everything provided, especially kitchen equipment. Also logs for fire. Feb 2010.
  5. Very charming cottage set amongst breath-taking scenery and an abundance of wildlife. Feb 2008
  6. This was the first time we had booked a cottage and we had a wonderful time. The owner was extremely helpful and the location beautiful.Feb 2008
  7. Very nice. The gamekeeper was very helpful, with his help made our holiday more enjoyable (fishing). The owner was lovely when we met her and we hope to go back soon. Sept 2007
  8. Our second visit to a great location. Aug 2008.
  9. Considering the time of year we were very, very lucky with the weather, only one wet day. Fantastic area, the owner was lovely, plenty of wonderful places to go without having to drive long distances, all in in all a fantastic break. Feb 2007.
