Property Description

This listed building, near the Rance River, provides a tranquil holiday home a short distance from the sea, with rapid access to St. Malo. The lovely peaceful grounds make a great place to eat al fresco under the willow trees. The friendly owner lives next door and is happy to offer advice. Sandy beaches are within easy reach, as is the beautiful riverside town of Dinan, one of Brittany’s oldest medieval cities with views over the Rance. Garden lovers will enjoy the park of the Château de Caradeuc, nicknamed the ’Versailles of Brittany’. Also worth a visit are Cobac and Dinan attraction parks, and Pleugueneuc Zoo. Horseriding and golf are also within easy reach.

Location: 1km W of Plester (village, basic shops), 4km S of Evran (small town, all facilities), 12km S of Dinan (historic town), 30km from St. Malo, 40km N of Rennes (city).

  1. Very quite location but near to local amenities and within easy drive of picturesque Dinan and the Brittany coast; an excellent location for cyclists. The owner and his wife are very friendly and generous but speak little English. The property is very well appointed with large rooms and plenty of space. We had a really relaxing time and would thoroughly recommend it. June 2012.
  2. We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at L’Aumone. We highly recommend the cottage to those wishing to stay in Northern Brittany. The accommodation is very good, exceptionally clean and in a good rural location. Our hosts were exceptional, very friendly, helpful but unobtrusive. The bottle of wine, sweets, drinks in the fridge on arrival was an appreciated gesture. During our stay, the gifts of fresh eggs from the onsite chickens and the tarts baked by the owners wife were superb. April 2012.
  3. This was by far the best house that we have stayed in whilst visiting France. It was comfortable, very well equipped, in a good location and the owners were friendly and helpful. The house is well placed to visit, Dinan, St. Malo, Le Monts St, and Michel and Dinard. We would highly recommend a visit to Les Sables D’or Les Pins, which is a beautiful, sandy beach and nature reserve, and the grand aquarium in St. Malo, which although was on the expensive side is a well worth visit!   4. Lovely cottage and very hospitable owners. Within easy reach of St Malo, Dinard and Mont St Michel and also the beautiful town of Dinan is very close. We had a lovely holiday and would definitely return to this property. May 2011.
  5. It was in a very quiet peaceful location whilst close to the lovely medieval town of Dinan. On arrival we were greeted by Joel, the very friendly owner who went to great lengths to accompany us around the property and made sure that we got the most out of our accommodation. A bottle of wine greeted us on the table and in the fridge he had put eggs fresh from his chickens, orange juice and water! On the Wednesday we were treated to a homemade French tart! The property was just like the pictures and I would definitely return. It was one of the best holidays that I have had. Aug 2010.
  6. The Gite was excellent, clean, very well equipped and situated in a lovely quiet rural area. We were welcomed by the Owner with gifts of eggs from his chickens, and a bottle of wine. He further supplied us with fresh produce from his garden. He and his wife were delightful people who were most concerned that we had everything we needed, but were very careful not to intrude on our privacy. We would certainly recommend this property to our friends and others. June 2010.
