Situated in the heart of the North Pennines with views over the surrounding fells and valleys, it is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with stunning moorland, hills, rivers and waterfalls. Dating from the 17th century, this property today has a contemporary boutique feel and is ideal for families and friends to gather for a relaxing holiday. Alston, (used as a location for Jane Eyre and Oliver Twist), has quaint cobbled streets and various shops, galleries and a narrow gauge railway. This holiday home is perfectly placed for touring Cumbria and the Lake District, Northumberland, the Dales of Yorkshire and Durham, and the borderlands of Scotland. Visit South Tynedale Steam Railway in Alston and travel the famous, scenic Settle to Carlisle line from nearby Langwathby station. Hadrian’s Wall is a short drive away along one of England’s top ten scenic drives and there are many exhibition and view points along the heritage site. The cities of Carlisle, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Durham, plus the historic town of Hexham make interesting day trips. Shops, pubs and restaurants 50 yards.

Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Cot and high chair (on request). DVD. CD. Halogen hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Washing machine and tumble dryer (in utility). Dishwasher. Wi-fi. Parking 4 yards (foc, in the Market Place). No smoking. Friday to Friday.

  1. A high standard of accommodation for a family including a baby, plus grandparents. The owners have been meticulous in providing a safe and extremely attractive, comfortable and well furnished environment. Lack of an adjacent outdoor play area means that the superb playroom is a real asset. After a day out it offers a welcoming, beautifully equipped and secure space for indoor play and relaxation. Alternatively you can chill out in an elegant sitting room or catch up on work in the study. An excellent cottage in a convenient location. April 2012.
  2. Great house. Lots of extras e.g playroom with toys/stairgates. Blackout blinds excellent. Beautifully clean and sparkly and comfortable. Very central location to shops and walks. Great children’s playground. Would have loved a patio/garden for the children but knew at time of booking there was no outside area and was only there for a short break. Would visit again. March 2012.
