Property Description

This charming 18th century Grade ll listed holiday cottage is a stone building forming part of a school founded by Lady Modyford in 1702. It is situated in the centre of the quiet little village of Buckland Monachorum on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, in the Tamar Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The city of Plymouth and the ancient stannary town of Tavistock are both just a short drive, and the property is conveniently located for exploring the rugged moor, perfect for walkers and the outdoor types. Local National Trust properties include Buckland Abbey, Saltram House, Castle Drogo, Cotehele House and Lydford Gorge. Shops 2 miles, pub 50 yards.

Ground floor: Living room. Dining room/kitchen. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 single. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Woodburner in living room (no fuel provided). Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. DVD. CD. Gas cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Small rear yard. No smoking. Friday to Friday.

  2. Lovely cottage, well equipped and cosy. Great little log burner and shower too. Nice local walks, but ideal for Dartmoor and easy reach of larger towns if needed. April 2012.
  3. Great little cottage especially if you have a dog, great walks straight from back of cottage, I was impressed with the dog pooh bins! people do use them. One tip, if you arrive in the dark, take a torch as we had difficulty in finding a light switch, and we did manage to park right outside the cottage, which is great if you have a wet dog! Feb 2012.
  4. The cottage was ideally located in quaint village. Very near to Tavistock and Plymouth but most importantly for us, the moors were on our doorstop and provided great walks with our dog. The cottage provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay and even though we only stayed for 5 days, we felt like we really had a complete break. Oct 2011.
  5. We enjoyed staying at this property it was nearly home from home with all mod cons (More than we are used to when we rent) and the peace and quiet was deafening. We were twenty two steps to a lovely village pub, what more? The position of the property gave us easy access to Dartmoor and also to Plymouth and Cornwall. July 2011.
