Property Description

This charming, typically Provençal house is very peaceful, with shady terrace and sunny pool, surrounded by the French countryside. The property is set in large, enclosed grounds (4000m²), scattered with olive and oak trees. The interior is very homely with antique furniture, and has an open fire; this is an ideal family house, with bedrooms on the ground floor and an enclosed mezzanine with three single beds as well as a single bedroom on the first floor. The house is one of a few on a winding country lane, but is only 2km from the village of Le Thoronet with cafés, restaurants, a 12th century abbey, summer festivals and local market. In the other direction is a supermarket and motorway connection (A8), therefore making this property ideally located for trips out exploring the Côte d’Azur and the Croisette, and visiting the busier towns of Fréjus and St. Tropez, or the beaches. The spectacular Gorges Verdon, the Saint Maxime Gulf, the Lac de Cacarces and Lac de Saint Cassien with boats, bicycles and horseriding are also close by.

  1. Local village was very ordinary and the distance to places of interest and to the coast was generally over 45 mins. Having said that the property was worth the travelling. We loved the fact it was secluded and surrounded by trees but still with a lovely view from the terrace. The layout was perfect with a large (partially covered) terrace with a lockable gate accessing stone steps down to a very good sized pool with another shaded area with table and chairs for outdoor meals/barbecues. This was all ideal (and safe) for our extended family with small children. It is a lovely older property in a very attractive setting. Inside, the villa is comfortable and well equipped. The mezzanine floor gets plenty of natural light and provides various sleeping arrangements. It would be very easy to spend all the time there and not bother going anywhere else! June 2012.
  2. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at this cottage. The location is great with shops and amenities very close by. The patio and pool are both very secure areas. The pool even has an alarm. There are lots of places and beaches to stay, with St Tropez and Cannes just a short drive away. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this lovely cottage. Sept 2011.

  5. La Rouree was a well furnished house with very good outside space. It was well equipped with quality furnishings and appliances and the owner was very helpful when we had a couple of problems that needed sorting out. The house was very suitable for young children as the pool is both alarmed and fenced and the property gated and well fenced. The pool was a good size and averaged 27 degrees C when we were there in July. The outdoor space was great and although there are neighbours the house stands in a good sized plot of land and is not overlooked so it feels private. We had a great holiday in what was a well located house and would definitely consider returning. July 2011.
