Property Description

Killard Cottage is a warm and welcoming retreat in an idyllic location with spectacular sea views. Set on Killard Hill, Doonbeg, and close to the owner’s home and working dairy farm, this delightful cottage offers magnificent sunsets and is within 5 minutes walk of the secluded and unspoilt White Strand Beach, making it an attractive choice for a seaside holiday. Killard offers access to many designated scenic walking routes, both along the nearby cliffs and also further afield, while geologists remain intrigued by the local rock formations.
The detached cottage has been restored and is bright, airy and furnished to a very good standard. The open plan ground floor living area has exposed ceiling beams and a woodburner, and there is a fully fitted kitchen with dining table. The cupboards at Killard Cottage are always stocked with basic starter essentials. The living area leads to a spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room and patio doors. From this room, a spiral staircase gives access to a connecting first floor mezzanine single bedroom, with a sloping ceiling and a Velux with a spectacular view. Outdoors, there is a gravelled courtyard with furniture and striking views of the blissful Doonbeg Bay and Atlantic Ocean, together with the adjacent countryside.
The area is very popular with birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Doonbeg is located on the Wild Atlantic Way, the scenic long distance route along the west coast of Ireland. Shannon Airport is an hour away, Dublin Airport is 3 to 4 hours away and Cork Airport is 30 minutes away. The Shannon Ferry in Killimer connects to County Kerry. The popular seaside resort of Kilkee is a 15-minute drive with fantastic cliff scenery and the gateway to the remote, rugged, Loop Head Peninsula. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Woodburner in living room (no fuel provided). Gas central heating and electricity (€4per day summer, €7per day winter). Bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Gravelled courtyard/patio with sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (2 cars). No smoking.
