This rural cottage adjoining the owner’s apartment is set in peaceful, scenic surroundings near Newcastlewest, in a corner of Limerick which has been little explored. Ballylin hillfort, the largest hillfort in Ireland at 800ft above sea level can be accessed from the owners land.

The idyllic location and Shannon views make it a painter’s paradise. The village of Ardagh is 3 miles from the property with a pub, shop and post office.

The quiet country roads in the area make walking a pleasure, golfers can enjoy the 18 hole course at Newcastlewest Golf Club and the beautiful, well maintained lake at Glashna (4 miles) is ideal for trout fishing. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room. Dining room/kitchen. 2 double bedrooms. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Open fire in living room (initial fuel included). Oil central heating €10per week. Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Video. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Lawned garden with furniture. Ample parking.

  2. We had a friendly welcome to the property. It was ideally located to explore the Limerick region and beyond. Lovely with a small child to have everything on one level in a bungalow. An ideal place to relax and take it easy in very pleasant surroundings! Bridget made a very kind and caring host! March 2012.
  3. The owner is very welcoming and nothing seemed to much trouble for her. She was lighting the fire for us when we arrived and she left us home-made bread and cake, milk, etc in the kitchen. The cottage was very good value for money and we enjoyed our stay. Drivers should note that the cottage is the second on the left down the L6076, which is off the R521. It is hard to spot on Google Earth. Jan 2012.
  4. The welcome by Bridget was as usual second to none. The cottage, area and food was A+++. Would recommend the Old Stand in Shanagolden (8Km) excellent food and service. Oct 2011.
  5. We had a wonderful stay, the beds were very good which was important to me.When we arrived the fire was blazing and all the necessary starter foods in the fridge and cupboards. The owner was very helpful and pleasant person,she informed us of all the local places to eat and see . We hope to stay again in the future. Aug 2011.
  6. The cottage is situated in beautiful rural countryside though not too far from the main roads to other places, such as Killarney, Dingle and Cork. We would recommend these places to visit. More locally, Adare and especially Bally Bunion for the lovely views of the Atlantic and the beach. Bridget (the owner) is fantastic and very helpful with information. She also provided a start pack, ie homemade bread and jam, milk and cheese which was very thoughtful and we couldn’t ask for a better hostess. Would definitely recommend this cottage. Aug 2011.
  7. Please add to directions that the road number is L6076, turning off road number R521. Guests will know they are close when they see the windfarm on the hill- because they will not want to miss a minute of this peaceful retreat. The landlady will welcome you with a kindly stocked kitchen, homebaked bread and enough helpful directions as you require. She then leaves you to get on with your holiday but is at hand if needed. Her generosity of spirit and her wink add so much to the house of which she is rightly proud. May 2011.
  8. Ms. Sheahan was a great hostess and was very helpful with local information. The location was great for us (4 retirees) as we rented a car. We were able to travel to Cork, Tipperary, Limerick, the Burren, TraLee, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry very easily on day trips. The cottage is in a nice country setting and very quiet and private. And the best meals we had were in Shanagolden, only 8 kilometers north at the Old Stand. Newcastle West had everything we needed for a self-catering cottage. This was a great experience for us. May 2011.

  11. This property provided the peaceful seclusion we needed from the hussle and bustle of today’s busy life style. Set at the foot of the beautiful Kerrikyle valley, this cottage came with all the creature comforts and was ideal for our needs plus, and more importantly to us, we were able to take our two dogs. We do not holiday without our dogs. Because we had time on our hands, my wife and I decided to take a look at the general area before presenting ourselves to the cottage. However, upon locating the cottage - three hours early, the owner insisted we stayed. Her warm welcome was beyond belief with fresh home made Irish bread, butter, milk and cheese to tide us over the initial period. Our two dogs soon got acquainted with the resident canine population. We were delighted. May 2010.

  15. This was our first visit to Ireland and we could not have had a warmer welcome that the one we received from the cottage owner. There was a fire burning in the grate, home made bread and jam in the kitchen and milk & butter in the fridge. The accommodation was of a very good standard in comparison to the price that I paid.   16. It was very nicely decorated. It was very comfortable. It had all the amenities a family would need on holiday particularly the washing machine and tumble dryer. The location was very pleasant and peaceful. Brigit the owner was next door and couldn’t have been more helpful. July 2009.

  19. We liked the fact it was basic as we had dogs with us and we just put over a couple of throws on the furnishings and then we could relax. Because it was a dog showing holiday, if everything had been too perfect we would not have been able to relax. Also it had everything you have in your own home which made it a home from home.   20. There are excellent horse riding and fishing facilities nearby. There are SWS Forest Walks about 2 miles from the cottage (look out for the Wheatears). The cottage is a great location to get away from it all and Bridget, (the owner) is very helpful and a good source of local information. July 2009.
