A well positioned stone holiday cottage at a midway point on the Powys/Shropshire border between the popular towns of Clun, famous for its castle, and Knighton, a town on the Offa’s Dyke path with its pretty timber framed buildings many dating back to the 17th century, its narrow sharply climbing streets lined with antique shops and a good selection of coffee houses and traditional inns, plus of course its strong connection to Owain Glendwr. Visitors can easily enjoy trips to nearby Ludlow with its castle, racecourse and numerous festivals. Enjoy a trip to Bishop’s Castle with its market town and home brewers, Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, Carding Mill Valley, Ironbridge, Bridgenorth, Attingham Park (NT) and Shewsbury. Other places of interest include Presteigne, home to the Judges Lodging, Churchstoke Country park, Powys Castle (NT) and Llanfair Light Railway. Shops and pub 2 miles.

Woodburner in living/dining room (initial fuel included). NSH, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Satellite TV. DVD. Stereo/CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Freezer. Payphone. Landscaped gardens with patio and furniture. Parking (1 car). One well-behaved dog welcome (sheep country), free of charge. No smoking.

  3. It was a beautiful cottage in an ideal setting and a very well equipped cottage which has been well looked after. There was only a picture of the exterior of the cottage on the website so we were very pleasantly suprised on our arrival. March 2012.
  4. Great facilities and location for visiting other towns and cities. However, mention should be made of the steep and uneven hill up to the cottage, even from the car park. It may not be suitable for elderly or disabled clients. Sept 2011.
  5. Much bigger inside than expected, especially the living room and bedroom. Well furnished and equipped. Little radio & zero mobile reception, but Sky TV/Radio provided. Gardens in photo are now fenced off, but owners happy to share. Close to fabulous scenery (ask how to access the ridge opposite) and charming villages (e.g. Clun, Bishops Castle). Ludlow, Rhyader, Llanidloes (for upper Severn river walks), Long Mynd, Shrewsbury (by train!) are easy excursions. Knighton (Horse & Jockey excellent for food & drink) is a 6 minute drive, mostly uphill on the way back - Nb local taxi service is erratic at best. A great centre for very varied exploration. Good local supermarket (Tuffins, open Sunday to 4) in Knighton. Aug 2011.

Its location in a beautiful country side area with panoramic views and amazing walks makes it great for relaxing holidays. There was a special feeling which made the whole experience just perfect.   15. The accommodation was far larger than I expected and appeared on the images; I found it warm, clean, with a pleasant ’homely’ décor. What impressed me was the lovely, well kitted-out kitchen. The owner was very conscientious and made sure that I was comfortable. One useful thing was that there is a BT Fon wireless internet zone that can be picked up from the adjacent property if you subscribe to this broadband service. Sep 2010.

Excellent, everything you could possibly want;fuel, firelighters etc for solid fuel burner, milk, bread, butter, lots of extras such as vinegar, salt, pepper, mustard, very good selection of cutlery, crockery, loads of videos and books, leaflets, cleaning sprays, toilet rolls, what more can i say!
