Holmhill Steading Cottage was once the stable block and groom’s quarters to the elegant main house, but now offers a perfectly cosy and beautifully appointed country retreat. As a base it is unbeatable as Thornhill lies at the junction of the A76 Dumfries to Kilmarnock and A702 New Galloway to Edinburgh roads in the mid section of the beautiful Nith Valley in Dumfriesshire. This lovely holiday cottage has been lovingly restored and has every comfort on hand to ensure your stay is perfect. It is no surprise that Visit Scotland has awarded Holmhill Steading Cottage a 4 star rating. The private terrace is just the ticket for planning your day over a cup of coffee and as the sun set’s reliving the perfect day over a few glasses of wine as you breathe in the captivating views. Holmhill, dating from around 1760, has quite a history as the first recorded occupant was Charles Douglas and his family. The house was ’left to him in liferent’ by the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry. Close by is the magnificent Drumlanrig Castle, home to the Duke.

Ground Floor: The property is all on one level, heated by oil central heating and comprises;
Ramped entry to open plan lounge/dining/kitchen, a light filled room with windows overlooking the spacious courtyard, French doors to the rear garden and feature windows
Lounge Area: With TV/DVD
Dining Area: With dining furniture
Kitchen:With electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.
Bedroom 1: With super king size bed or twin beds (please state preference at time of booking), views over the courtyard, French doors to the patio and garden and en suite shower room with corner shower cubicle, WC and wash basin.
Bedroom 2: With super king size bed or twin beds (please state preference at time of booking) and views over the garden
Shower Room: With easy access wide shower enclosure, WC and wash basin

All fuel, power, bed linen and towels included. Cot and high chair available. 2 well behaved dogs accepted.Patio with garden furniture and guests are welcome to enjoy the vast open gardens. Off road parking for 4 cars.

If this happens, you will be responsible for cancellation charges (as shown in our main brochure or our website) including any deferred Booking Fee, Personal Travel Insurance and Ferry crossings that you have chosen to buy, all of which must be paid immediately..
