1. These terms and conditions should be read with the Booking Conditions and insurance information in our brochures or on our website. Especially note Sections 2, 4 and 7 of the Booking Conditions
2. Offer applies only to bookings for 2014 which are booked before 13th April 2014.
3. The low deposit payable under this offer is £25.
4. Does not apply to properties that sleep 10 or more.
5. The difference between the £25 low  deposit and the usual deposit shown in our main brochure or website is payable with the balance payment, which we must receive no later than 10 weeks before your booking starts, or at the time of cancellation if you cancel your booking. This payment will include all applicable charges as detailed on your booking confirmation, including any insurance premiums and any Ferry costs. If payment is not received in full on time, we can treat your booking as cancelled by you for a non-refundable reason. If this happens, you will be responsible for cancellation charges (as shown in our main brochure or our website) including any deferred Booking Fee, Personal Travel Insurance and Ferry crossings that you have chosen to buy, all of which must be paid immediately.

Property Description

This detached, spacious 18th century country house is truly impressive. It has lots of character, comfort, charm and original features and is situated in a peaceful rural location on the fringe of the Lake District National Park, a 15 minute drive from a beach, lakes and fells. It is set in substantial wooded gardens, with formal lawns, orchard and patio areas, the whole of which is enclosed and surrounded by countryside. The holiday property has been furnished to a very good standard with a profusion of original features, which have been retained and renovated. Traditional and contemporary art adds an interesting slant. Cockermouth, 8 miles, has coffee shops, restaurants, gastro pubs, shops and art galleries. There are theatres in Keswick, Cockermouth and Whitehaven, all within easy reach and hosting musical and theatrical events all year. The small rural village of Aspatria, 2 miles, has a small selection of shops. There is a public swimming pool in Cockermouth or you can have your own personal indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and steam room (rented by the hour, recommend book early) just 500 yards from the lodge. Fly fishing available, trout pond in Gilcrux, 11/2 miles, and rivers Ellen in Aspatria and Derwent in Cockermouth. Shop 2 miles, pubs and restaurants 1/2 mile.

  2. The property is very spacious and comfortable and equipped to a good standard. The African art displayed is both interesting and decorative. In cool periods it benefits from lighting the fire in the lounge but there is ample supply of logs and coal. The gardens are sizeable and we enjoyed playing games on the expansive grassy area. March 2012.
