Property Description

This charming, spacious village house has been totally refurbished and provides an excellent standard of holiday accommodation in the heart of the attractive lakeside village of Pooley Bridge, adjoining the owner’s other property. Well-equipped and comfortably furnished, it has five en-suite bedrooms and will equally suit couples or family groups. Enjoy being close to all the village amenities with the added bonus of having a peaceful large garden to the rear of the property with views across open fields. Just a short walk will take you to the shore of Ullswater where there are all year round regular steamers travelling the sinuous length of the lake, calling at Howton on the way south to Glenridding. Water sports, cycling and walking are all popular activities and whichever you choose you’ll be amazed by the spectacular scenery which Wordsworth called ‘the happiest combination of beauty and grandeur’. South of the lake you can drive over the scenic Kirkstone Pass which takes you down into the popular village of Ambleside and on to Windermere. The traditional market town of Penrith with a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants is 6 miles. Shops and pubs 30 metres.

  4. The Holly House kitchen is perhaps a little small when more than one person is cooking for 10 people and the oven controls difficult to navigate. However, the kitchen, and the rest of the house, is very well stocked with every gadget you can need. Oct 2011.

  7. A lovely house with everything needed for a great family holiday. The bedrooms are comfortable and all en-suite with a constant supply of hot water for all our showers.The patio area gets sun most of the day with outdoor furniture and we enjoyed breakfast and evening drinks there. There is also a large sheltered garden area and we appreciated the supply of books and games in the house. We have been twice before and will be back. June 2011.
  8. We went to Holly House last spring & loved it hence the return visit this year. It is a lovely house & well kitted out with everything you might need. Its lovely to have an ensuite shower for each of the 5 bedrooms. Its perfectly positioned to walk up Blencathra which we did & loved it!!!!! April 2011.
