Property Description

Rural tranquillity and stunning views surround this centuries old, traditional Cumbrian barn which has been carefully restored to provide a spacious, comfortable holiday home retaining many character features. The beautiful countryside of the Whicham Valley presents a wonderful panorama with White Combe and Black Combe as a back drop, and the sandy beach at Silecroft just two miles away. The Cumbrian Heavy Horse centre is nearby where you can ride, visit the tea room or admire the horses, you may even see the horses trekking across the land just below the farmhouse. Also in the valley is Brockwood Hall which has a restaurant, bar and heated indoor swimming pool, open to the public. The southern lakes and fells are easily reached – Coniston Water, Wastwater, Ennerdale Water and Lake Windermere are all within half an hour’s drive. Visitor attractions such as Muncaster Castle, Gardens and Owl Sanctuary, ’La’al Ratty’ miniature steam railway at Ravenglass or the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton make wonderful family days out. Black Combe is within walking distance and an energetic ramble to the top (nearly 2,000ft) will reward hikers with the most amazing views of the whole of the southern lakeland fells and over to the Isle of Man on a clear day. For a more peaceful scenario, the pretty garden tempts visitors to relax with a good book. Shop 5 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant 2 miles.
