Property Description

Set in a secluded position high in the Mendips above Cheddar Gorge and just 3 miles from Cheddar, these three attractive barn conversions make an excellent base for walkers and nature lovers. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is rich in bird and wildlife, including badgers and deer (which visit the farm). Animals on the farm include calves, pygmy goats, alpacas and guinea pigs. Nature trails criss-cross the surrounding hills, easily accessible from the farm, and the whole area is one of immense historical and geological interest.
Among the many places of interest to visit are Wells cathedral in England’s smallest city, Glastonbury Tor, the caves at Cheddar and Wookey, Longleat and several NT properties including Montacute House and Stourhead and King John’s Hunting Lodge in pretty Axbridge. Excellent beaches and seaside entertainment can be enjoyed at Weston Super Mare and Brean, and there are many charming villages to be explored, along with the rugged landscape of Exmoor National Park, famous for the native ponies. The Georgian Heritage city of Bath is easily reached with its beautiful architecture, Roman Baths, Abbey and fine selection of shops and restaurants. Several golf clubs are available locally together with horse riding, coarse fishing and trout fishing at Chew Valley and Blagdon Lakes. Very good local inns and places to eat.

This comfortable cottage is set close to the children’s play area. Sitting-room with dining area and electric log-effect fire. Well-equipped kitchen. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Open-tread staircase to one double room with 5ft bed, and one twin bedroom.

The farm was ideal for the children as there was plenty of room for them to run around, the play area was right outside the door to our holiday cottage so they were out first thing on a morning and before bedtime. They loved the animals on the farm which also helped to keep them entertained. The location of the farm was great just outside Cheddar Gorge which is stunning and a beautiful drive through.   16. Excellent spotless cottage, perfect location and the owners very nice. My daughters fed the farm animals everyday with the owner. Very well equipped cottage with dvd/video films and cartoons toys for the kids should the weather be bad, will miss Sid the dog, he is so friendly even playing with our Choc Lab. April 2009.

  19. This is the second year we have been to Wellington Farm and have only been back a week and have already booked up again for May 2009! The children had a fantastic time with the owners helping with the animals every day. Oct 2008.
  20. I would have to say that hosts were exceptionally pleasant and welcoming. They went out of their way to welcome us all including the two dogs which for some reason hadn’t survived the booking progress. All in all excellent hosts and a wonderful holiday in the english countryside. Aug 2008.
