Property Description

Situated in a lovely rural valley and surrounded by open countryside, this pair of delightful holiday cottages enjoy wonderful views over to the sea at Mawgan Porth. Away from farm traffic, on a small organic working cattle and sheep farm, enjoy watching the young farm animals, or feel free to walk the nature trail set in 15 acres of woodland valley, which is home to a variety of wildlife. Mawgan Porth, 2 miles, has a wonderful sandy beach and an 18-hole golf course. Both the resorts of Newquay and picturesque Padstow are within an 8 mile radius. The Eden Project is also within easy reach and Jamie Oliver’s ’Fifteen’ restaurant, Watergate Bay, is only 3 miles away. The idyllic village of St Mawgan, 1 mile, has interesting antique and craft shops, a pub and post office with tea room and a Bonsai nursery.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with patio door. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, 1 bunk, all with wooden floors. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet.

Both properties: Convector heaters (first £10 electricity included, remainder by meter reading). Bed linen included. Cot. High chair. DVD. Stereo. Electric cooker. Microwave. Shared utility room with £1 coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer. Dishwasher. Freezer. Shared payphone. Patio and furniture. Barbecue. Parking. No smoking indoors please.   1. Friendly welcome to a lovely cottage, far enough away from things to be peaceful, yet near enough to amenities to not feel isolated. We had three children aged, 6, 5 and 1, and they were kept happy while actually at the cottage, being able to run around outside and play on the slide! Cottage facilities were excellent - dishwasher, microwave, iron etc within the cottage itself; washing machine and drier located just outside in a laundry room. Nice-sized patio area outside with seating and a barbecue, lovely view from here over the hills with a distant view of the sea (the sun sets over this part of the sea so on a clear evening it is beautiful). Several great beaches within a few minutes drive although be aware that some have car-parking charges. The beach at Mawgan Porth (about 2 miles away) has a pub that offers free parking if you use the pub, or 20p to go to charity if you don’t, and the beach is directly across the road from there. Tesco currently (September 2011) offers reward deals for Blue Reef Aquarium at Newquay and the Eden Project at St Austell, both near enough to drive to from this property. Overall a great stay in a lovely cottage with friendly owners in a beautiful area - what more could you want? Sept 2011.
  2. A wonderfully quiet, isolated property in lovely countryside. The views are excellent as is the access to walks and plenty of fresh air. The property is very well equipped, warm and comfortable, but is not within walking distance of public amenities (shop, post office, etc). Sept 2011.
  3. The cottage was fantastic, location was exellent, 5min drive from st mawgan porth beach, which was fantastic for kids. We had cows at the bottom for the cottage garden which was lovely, would defo recommend this cottage 10/10. Aug 2011.
  4. The accommodation and location was utterly beautiful, panoramic views across St Mawgan and being able to see St Mawgan Porth was stunning. Both Nancy and David were very hospitable and the cottage was clean and well equipped. We had the most wonderful time and would have loved to have stayed longer but will defiantly be going back!   9. Good location, close to coastline, Newquay and airport. Pretty local village with tea rooms and pub serving meals. Rural farm surrounded by rolling hills, lovely vista from sitting room. Bedrooms small but adequate. Nice touches such as tea, coffee, washing up liquid etc provided and cake and milk on arrival. Run by nice, friendly family. July 2010.
