With natural stone walling, gravelled pathways, varied topiary, shrubs and colourful plants, all contribute an appropriate level of charm and quality to the overall visitor impression of a carefully maintained and well presented country house estate. There is outdoor seating available on the view terrace for a relaxing read, and with pathways through the wildlife-filled natural woodland. Visitors are regularly impressed by the size and quality of the building structure, the architect-designed apartments and by the spacious, light feel of its high ceilings, large windows and effective use of antique and period furnishings alongside contemporary kitchens, bathrooms and other creature comforts. They are located close to the Lake District National Park boundary, and only a 15-minute drive along a dual carriageway from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway, making the properties more accessible than other parts of the region. Just 1 mile from the gardens, traffic-free promenade and award-winning shops of Grange-over-Sands, with the additional benefit of train access and bus services along the adjacent highway to other parts of Cumbria and the Lake District. There are plenty of places to eat out and lots of things to see and do in this area, including riding, golfing, water sports, walking, cycling, climbing and boat trips on the lake. Cartmel, 3 miles, the home of sticky toffee pudding and a nationally acclaimed restaurant, has a picturesque market square, racecourse and a 12th-century priory church. Spend the day in Ambleside, Coniston, Bowness or Hawkshead, all of which are within easy reach. Museums, galleries, studios, craft centres, zoos, aquariums, agricultural shows, equestrian events, sports and festivals all compete for your interest and attention. South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton in Furness is around 20-30 minutes’ drive away and worth a visit. Take the train over the Kent Estuary to Arnside, a pretty seafront resort with a handful of shops and cafés, in the Arnside and Silverdale AONB. Also, the Kent Estuary is tidal and is well-known for the Arnside bore. Guests are welcomed by flowers, a fruit bowl, tea and biscuits and the resident proprietor is available on-site if you have any questions about the local area or the properties themselves.
