  1. I would just like to say that we were four male photographers from South Wales aged between 49 and 67, that descended on Elgol for a week’s photography Holiday on the this magical Isle of Skye. What can I say about Heatherlea Cottage, it will take you a good 40mins from Broadford up a single track road, which has plenty of passing points for traffic to pass each other, we encountered no problems but it was [ March and not July ] and driving through some beautiful scenery . As you start to enter Elgol you come up a small incline and there is a sign on top to your left just before the cattle grid pointing you down to Heatherlea cottage, you can’t see the cottage from this point because it’s about 200 yds down a track, which is a cautious drive if you are four in a car and are fully loaded; but no problem if you are in a 4x4. The cottage is all on its own with a view overlooking the moor, and we did see some deer on one day, inside the cottage you will not be disappointed as you walk into the a small hallway with a toilet on the right and a cloakroom on your left and through a door into a very spacious living room and Kitchen area, with stairs leading down to the bedrooms, bathroom and toilet. The cottage is very well equipped with quality utensils, and a phone as you can’t always get a mobile signal. The only thing I would say to the owners is as they have Skye TV, they could upgrade their package to include the internet which would have been a great help to one person in our party [Work Related] who needed internet access. If you are into photography, as we are, you are only a five minutes drive from Elgol harbour which is overlooking the fabulous Cuilin mountains. The photographs of the cottage on this web site do not do it justice. Would I go back to Heatherlea Cottage, Yes. Would I recommend Heatherlea Cottage, Yes it’s a credit to its owners Regards Tony (one of the four togs in car from South Wales) Stuart, Dennis and Eric. March 2012.
  2. Heatherlea is a lovely place to stay in a beautiful location. We have visited twice and have looked forward to coming back for the past two years. Its tranquil location and and lovely layout make it ideal for those who truly love the islands of Scotland and want to visit with their family. July 2011.
  3. This is a nice place to stay, comfortable though might get warm inside on sunny days. Nobody around so you can enjoy your privacy (although there are some locals (cows!) to are hanging around, very nice. Area is very pretty, enjoyed the boat trip and the hiking. July 2011.
  4. A beautiful house hidden away from the road for total privacy and comfort. Very well equipped. Walk to Elgol for amazing views of the Cuillins across Loch Scavaig. Elgol shop (tiny) can be reached by walking along the rocky ridge to the footpath. March 2011.
  5. The main room was light and airy, very well equiped and the whole house was warm and very comfortable. The accommodation provided us with a peacful and relaxing holiday with amazing views of the deer rutting. Dec 2010.
  6. Fabulous modern, light, airy property in a completely secluded location. Oct 2010.
  7. Cosy and comfortable for six adults of varying ages. July 2010.
  8. Don’t think the photos quite do the house justice - very secluded, lovely house, fantastic wildlife, modern comfortable furnishings and lots of natural light. June 2010.
  9. Very quiet. Easy to heat. Great view over fields. Lots of wildlife. June 2010.
  10. The house was warm and bright, upstairs had windows on all four sides and yet it was completely private no other house in sight. We appreciated not having to pay extra for electricity or bring our own linen. Also due to its remoteness it was a real lifesaver to have a phone available that we could use .Everything worked and it was a well thought out and designed property. Good value for money.A good size fridge/freezer. April 2010.
  11. A remarkable and unique property, very comfortable and warm at an early Easter break. A good standard of accommodation and facilities. The washing machine and dishwasher much appreciated. A most enjoyable break. March 2010.
  12. An excellent cottage, which we felt was under rated by your grading system. June 2009.
  13. We felt that Heatherlea was like finding treasure... particularly after such a long journey! It was both unique and met our every need - it looked brand new. When we felt like relaxing, all we had to do was sit and look out of the large windows at the panorama and we occasionally caught glimpses of the local deer and birds. We were cosy and warm when we watched the odd storm or two blow across. When venturing out we took in breathtaking views of the Cuillins, plenty of photos and made the most of the autumn colours and Skye weather! This was an amazing holiday made so by the magic of Skye and the gem of this unique and beautiful home. We hope to return next year. Oct 2008.
