Property Description

Nestling peacefully in a rural hamlet location, adjacent to a quiet country lane opposite fields, these beautifully presented holiday properties provide a wonderful retreat from which to discover the delights of the island. Situated in the grounds of a Grade II listed thatched cottage, they have been fully refurbished and stylishly furnished. They have exposed stone and beams and offer an ideal retreat for couples - perfectly located for keen walkers and cyclists. Chale village, 1½ miles, lies at the foot of St Catherines Hill, and close by there are walks along miles of Heritage coastline, beaches and country pubs. Within easy reach are St Catherines Lighthouse, pretty villages of Shorwell Brighstone, Chale and Niton and amazing rock formations of the Needles. Blackgang Chine and Yarmouth Harbour are also within easy reach as well as numerous other holiday attractions. Picturesque thatched rooftop villages such as Old Shanklin, Godshill and Brighstone serve ice cream and cream teas, and many of the seaside resorts serve freshly caught fish of the day. This temperate island has towering cliffs, beaches, bays and coves, farmlands, river valleys and steep ravines, all linked by a 500-mile network of footpaths including 68 miles of coastal walks with spectacular views which are all accessed easily. For the outdoor enthusiast, there are also golf courses, riding, mountain biking, fishing, sailing, crabbing, surfing, kite flying, hang gliding and jet skiing. Shop and pubs approximately 1½ miles.

Living/dining room/kitchen with beams and exposed stonework. Double bedroom with en-suite jet spa contemporary shower room and toilet.

Customer Comments

Selected comment(s) from customers who have enjoyed staying at this property:
  1. Beautiful location, but very isolated. We were surprised to learn that there were no local pubs or conveniences within walking distance. The property was lovely & perfectly designed. The owners were very nice & welcoming. This is ideal for those seeking peace & quiet. June 2012.
  2. Well appointed comfortable cottage, in rural location but within easy reach of all the island’s attractions. Owners very welcoming and helpful. May 2012.
  3. Very helpful owners. The cottage serves as a hide and we enjoyed watching a wide variety of garden birds on the feeders which were close to the front door. This is a good location for walking especially on West Wight. Plenty of places to visit or other things to do if the weather is as bad as it was. April 2012.
  4. This was, without doubt, the most charming and superbly equipped cottage my wife and I have stayed in. The standards of finish and equipment were of a very high order and the attention to detail to make our stay so enjoyable was quite remarkable. The owners had thought of pretty well everything. The location was very quiet and peaceful with the south coast of the island very close by. A nearby village provided all the essentials you would want including a lovely village pub for eating out. Oct 2011.
  5. Beautifully appointed property in a restful, quiet location. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Oct 2011.
  6. Tucked away, just inland from the south coast of the Island, Heather Cottage provides an excellent retreat from the rush and bustle of normal life. Comfortably furnished the accommodation is ideal for couples, or a single resident. Conveniently situated for access, by car, to all parts of the Island. Sept 2011.
  7. Comfortable and well appointed cottage, ideal for two. Handy access to whole of island, lots of good walking. July 2011.
  8. Heather Cottage is a beautiful cottage set in a very peaceful and tranquil setting, which is an ideal base for exploring the whole of the Isle of Wight. June 2011.
  9. This is a lovely bijou cottage, quite small but very well equipped and decorated to a very high standard. The location is quiet and peaceful but not far from the Military Road which runs round the south part of the island so is ideally situated for exploring both east and west of the island. There is an excellent shop / deli with a lovely cafe at Chale Green, which is open until 9.00pm I believe and two very different pubs within 1.5-2miles of the cottage: The Wight Mouse in Chale (large, family oriented pub) and The Crown at Shorwell (nice local pub in a cute setting). Both do great food but The Crown is not so large and can get busy so best to go early! May 2011.
  10. The property was very clean, fully equipped with good quality furnishings, set in a lovely location and very quiet a lovely place to enjoy a break! Nov 2010.
  11. Well equipped kitchen, luxurious bathroom, well appointed furnishings. Peaceful location, lovely gardens. Sept 2010.
  12. Well appointed, attention to detail, all excellent. July 2010.
  13. Its cleanliness, friendly welcome and peaceful setting. June 2010.
  14. The West Wight setting is peaceful and relaxing. April 2010.
  15. Well furnished, lovely location in owner’s beautiful garden and beautiful part of the Isle of Wight with a stunning view from the patio. We haven’t given it excellent as we don’t think it was really big enough or suitable for a child (6 months) - even though we knew it was just one bedroom, it stated that high chair, travel cot was available, implying enough space for both. Sept 2009.
  16. Very clean and well equipped. Quiet location and helpful owners on site. June 2009.
  17. A very central location for exploring the Isle of Wight. The refurbishment of the cottage was top quality. A quiet location. May 2009.
